Dear friends,

On January 3, Associates, Partners et Sons turned 15.

From day one, it’s been my answer to a simple question: How do I do the work I love with the people I genuinely enjoy working with, both teammates and clients?

These years have been a steady accumulation of experience — starting with graphic design, then growing into strategy-led branding, and on the way here — exploring spatial design, and, every now and then, product design. Along the way we’ve changed pace, changed offices, learned what to say no to, and built a body of work we’re proud to stand behind.

A few milestones along the way — Latvia’s top awards in design and architecture, and a Red Dot Design Award for our product work with Aretai — these, besides happy clients, are a quiet reminder that the effort has mattered.

Today we work a lot on the road & remotely (even with a beautiful Riga Old Town studio waiting for us), but the intention hasn’t changed: do thoughtful, strategy-led design that lasts. 

We’ve always believed the cake can be baked bigger — so sharing, collaboration, and looking after our community has been part of our recipe from the start. You have been seeing less of us on social media these days. Algorithms change, and we’d rather put that energy into the work than chasing likes. But we still want to check in from time to time — don’t be shy to write us! Last year we delivered two larger projects, and we’ll share updates soon. Until then —

To empower Baltic startups in engaging with the dynamic US startup ecosystem, we designed a fresh logo and digital assets for social media and presentations. The logo symbolizes an open door, representing new opportunities in the US market. The color palette offers a modern take on the Baltic identity, blending contrasting national flag colors into a distinctive and vibrant brand aesthetic.

Our proposal for branding tender of Latvian Agency for Development Cooperation (joint agency of Centrālā finanšu un līgumu aģentūra & Ārlietu ministrija | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia).

The main idea was to create a modern and recognizable development cooperation identity for state institutions, partners, and audiences in Latvia and worldwide. At the core of the brand is a human symbol representing values such as human rights, democracy, gender equality, and civic engagement. The colors reference Latvian flag while emphasizing progress, inclusion and sustainable development, ensuring a globally comprehensible visual identity.

On Lāčaplēša diena (Nov 11th) we celebrate Latvian heroes that fought for our country. Lāčplēsis being a superhero from ancient times, who crushed the dark knight with his might coming from his bear ears.

While creating naming and identity for Lāčplēša skvērs, we coded a small reference to those ears in the typography.

Last Tuesday, we traveled to a fantastic location in Jūrmala to conduct a Brand Strategy Sprint with the Morberga villa executive team.

Drawing on the principles of the Google Brand Sprint, this exercise is designed to refine and crystallize the vision for the brand through a series of dynamic and engaging activities. Central to our approach was Simon Sinek’s brilliant Golden Circle concept, which focuses on the “Why,” “How,” and “What” of Morberga Villa. This powerful framework helped us uncover the deeper purpose and unique value proposition of the brand.

In addition to the Golden Circle, we also mapped out an ambitious 20-year plan, setting a clear trajectory for Morberga Villa’s growth and evolution. Through collaborative workshops, we identified key brand attributes, defined target audiences, and crafted compelling messaging that resonates with the luxury hospitality market.

The result? A revitalized and cohesive brand strategy that aligns with Morberga Villa’s vision and sets the stage for future success. It was an inspiring and productive day, and we are excited to continue working on developing the branding and brand identity of Morberga Villa.

We are also open to conducting these sprints for other companies that value strategic brand development and are looking to elevate their market presence.

For Rīgas vēstures un kuģniecības muzejs/ Riga History and Navigation Museum, together with photographer Sandijs Ruluks, we developed a system how for taking photographs of museum items that reference Baroque & Dutch Golden Age paintings.

As an experiment – Sandijs trained an AI model to generate images that would be influenced by the period and photos made at the museum photography studio. The set of AI images afterward works as a reference guide for accessories and composition. As the images produced are of imaginary objects, there is no use-case for their use in communication other than that of reference material.

Based on the developed concept, by using bold nature morte photography, we could breathe life into history, transforming it into an exciting and engaging experience. By vividly narrating the stories of Riga and its inhabitants through time, we connect the past's realities with today's world, encouraging a vision for the future.
