📝💡 In early 2024, an employee joined a video call with his CFO and several colleagues. The faces were right. The voices were right. Every person on that call was a fabrication. USD 25 million was gone before anyone realised.

No system was hacked. The attack went through the one layer no software protects: TRUST.

This is not the disinformation we spent the last decade learning to spot. Doctored screenshots and recycled photos were distortions of something real, and verification could catch them. AI fabricates from nothing, targets one person at a time and, worse, makes authentic evidence deniable.

Mauritius has already seen early versions of all three.

These are some of the issues currently being explored by our Director, Percy Kamanah, in the Forum pages of Le Mauricien. His reflection raises a fundamental question: in a world where seeing and hearing are no longer enough to establish truth, how do organisations, leaders and citizens adapt?

The conversation is no longer about the future. It is already here.
