Cynthia ANAIS

Cynthia ANAIS French 400m & 800m Runner
Coached by Andre THOMAS Cynthia was born to parents Jean-Michel and Pascale, in Aubervilliers, suburb of Paris in France.

Growing up in the district 13 of Paris (Chinatown) up to age 15, she moves with her parents and her little sister Sandy to live in the French Caribbean. Her dad from Guadeloupe and her grand mother (mother side) being from Martinique, her family choose to get back to their root in Martinique island. The previous year she had just join a track club in Paris call Paris Avenir Athletic (PAA). Growing

up trying different sports, her parents always gave her the freedom to practice whatever she liked. She started with classical dance at age 5, then switch to modern jazz, fencing, to finally wanting to be an ice skater. Surya Bonaly was her dream inspiration. Leaving right next to the big ice skating arena call Bercy, she begged her mum to train there; but unfortunately the schedules wasn't compatible so she kept her dream and her pink little skates on the side. Her inspiration never dies but eventually she start loving seeing Marie Jose Perec running. Always a part of her dad's journey as a regional soccer player, she loved to have different athletic activities...rollerskating all day through the neighborhood with her crew, playing soccer, racing each other, playing basketball, riding her bike, jumping rope...

Then one day a good friend of her, whose dads was an African lover of running, invited her to practice in her track club. She enjoyed it and after a few cross countries and training cessions chose to focus on long jump and hurdles :) long story short the journey continued in Martinique when she got redirected to long distance after winning a 1000m...

Really quick she became a part of her high school (Bellevue, Fort de France) track team, as well as the Martinican track team. Competing against Guadeloupe, at Cariftas Games, and in South America, brought her to break some Martinican middle distance records. Evolving at Louis Achille Stadium (Fort de France), with Ascoia Club, she progressed with Coach Lorsolo Ludger. Then eventually continued to trained with Coach Roche Laurent, who brought her to become Youth French Champion of the 800m in 2006. Specialist of the 800m with her 2min10, she got offered a 4 years full scholarship to study Design Graphism and run for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in the USA. Coach Barrett became her new coach. A new adventure started: she broke some school records, became several time MEAC division 1 Champion and above all lower her 800m time to 2min04 in 2012. In 2014 she moved to Montreal, Canada to continue to study in Design Textile. Les Vainqueurs club welcomed her as family. She tried to adjust with the new environment, then met Coach Belantine Michelle (ex Jamaican Olympian 800 runner). Michelle took the time to coach and advise her from her own experience. Canada was a great adventure, but eventually she returned to Martinique for a more compatible environment. She restarted to train with Coach Roche and his club Madinina Athlétisme. Then finally she decided to progress with Coach Thomas Andre, Jamaican 800 runner. Also her training partner, they choose Martinique as their base. Joining Saint Denis Emotion Club, the year 2017 training with Coach Thomas, brought her back to her highest level and to brake her Personal best in 2min03! ...To be continued...
