The mercury has climbed a whopping 3°C due to global warming, transforming our beloved landscape.
🎨 This illustration and others are part of the Paleosim - a Climate Impacts research project show. 🗓️ Mark your calendars for the 29th! That’s when this thought-provoking showcase will be unveiled, offering a peek into Paleosim’s research
🌍 This image depicts Xrobb l-Għaġin in Marsaxlokk, Malta, as it might look in a future with global warming levels (GWL) reaching 3°C above pre-industrial levels, which is the current trajectory according to the United Nations Environment Program's 2024 Emissions Gap Report. 🌡️
🌦️ In this future scenario, the Mediterranean region, including Malta, is projected to experience significantly drier conditions, with a notable decrease in annual precipitation. 🌵
📊 These visualizations are based on Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projections, highlighting the potential impacts of climate change on local landscapes.
