Ever wonder what travel content creation *really* looks like behind the scenes?

Spoiler alert: it's not all glamorous sunsets and endless adventures. In fact, it's often the exact opposite.

A common myth is that it's constant travel. Nope. It's constant *waiting*.

I'm talking hours in airports, waiting rooms, train stations, even just driving. The finished product? Looks like a blast. The reality? A ton of work. (And yes, it *is* a lot of fun too, I'll be clear about that!)

But here's the kicker: most of the real grind happens *before* and *after* the trip.

→ Before the trip: Hours of planning. I'm mapping out exactly what I need to film, what safety videos/photos I can create as backup. You know, just in case that "interesting" content I'm chasing doesn't pan out.

→ After the trip: That's when the real organization kicks in. Every single video, categorized. Saved into folders with consistent naming conventions. This isn't random; it's intentional.

I go in with a checklist, always. I create those checklists *in advance*. My goal? To ensure that when I *am* filming, it's *super high-quality* content.

If there's one lesson I've learned, it's this: *film more raw footage than you think you'll ever need*. Trust me on this one.

Because at the end of the day, you're not just collecting memories. You're building skills. Memories are great, an awesome part of it, for sure. But snaps from a family trip? That's miles away from professional photographs for a travel content creator.

It’s about being *intentional*. Every shot, every plan.

What's one "behind the scenes" secret from your niche that most people don't realize? Let me know below!

Ever feel like you need to be constantly jet-setting to be a travel content creator? Let me tell you, that's a myth. A big one.

I've built an entire content strategy around this simple truth: *one trip can generate months of content*. No, seriously. Months.

Here’s the real secret sauce: it's all about your *content library*.

→ Your content library is your goldmine.
→ It's your endless well of material.
→ It’s what allows you to repurpose, reuse, and refresh without booking another flight.

And guess what? *Local travel absolutely counts*. Don't have the budget for Bali right now? Not feeling the overseas vibe? No problem. Explore your own backyard!

Treat your local spots like you're a tourist seeing them for the very first time. Bonus points if you actually *do* rediscover your own region – it's truly amazing what you might find. Your city, your town, your state... that's someone else's dream adventure waiting to happen.

What matters more than the frequency of your trips is the *quality* and *organization* of your content library.

You need your travel content to be:
* Extremely well-organized.
* Instantly searchable.

This is where a solid *naming convention* becomes your best friend. Forget "posting and ghosting" your files into random folders. That's a one-way ticket to content chaos.

I personally use something like:
`YEAR_MONTH_LOCATION_DESCRIPTION_SHOTTYPE`

So, a clip from a hike might be: `2023_09_Victoria_SunriseHike_DroneShot`. Simple. Effective. Game-changing.

Consistency, my friends, *consistency beats movement* every single time. Consistently adding well-named, organized photos and videos to your library will pay off in spades. It’s the difference between scrambling for content and having an overflowing treasure chest ready to go.

How well organized is *your* content library? Let me know!

When the skies above the Georges-Étienne Cartier Monument look like this, but you only have one day left in Montreal, you zip up your jacket and go for your walk up Mont Royal anyway. 🥰☔️

Art is very subjective and not all things appeal to all people. This very modest display outside a Vancouver office caught my attention because it’s so interesting. What do you think of it?

What’s the most unexpectedly peaceful place you’ve ever visited? I’ll go first: it’s the park behind the Eiffel Tower just slightly away from the tourists. It’s quiet enough to read a book and just listen to the sounds of Paris.

Here’s a photo I forgot I had: “the Paris travellers.” We didn’t know each other when all arrived at the airport but with all the cancelled and missed flights, we became travelling friends.

Something many of you know about me is that I value community very deeply. When there is a chance to connect to the people around me and form a little community, I grab it. These strangers made - what could have been a challenging trip - absolutely amazing.
