What is NFC: definition?
NFC, or Near Field Communication, is a wireless RFID communication technology with a limited range. It means that as soon as they are near each other, two devices equipped with NFC technology are able to communicate with each other and exchange information. There is no need to launch an application, automatically triggering the specified action by bringing the devices close to each other - from a single simple "tap"!
The NFC technology is derived from RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and works by generating a "near field" (approximately 10 centimeters maximum) using high frequencies that allow NFC equipped devices to communicate with each other. The technology started to be used in France in 2011, but it is only beginning to flourish outside of the use of mobile payments. Smartphones are therefore increasingly fitted with NFC, and initiatives are multiplying to test and improve its use.
