The Eagle’s Rebirth: A Lesson in Transformation 🦅

At forty years old, the eagle reaches a crossroads.
Its talons grow long and curled—too weak to grasp prey.
Its beak bends downward—too dull to tear food.
Its chest and wing feathers grow heavy—too burdensome for flight.

The eagle has only two choices:
to die… or to change.

It retreats high to its mountain nest, where the painful rebirth begins.

First, it smashes its beak against the rocks until it breaks away.
Then it waits, enduring in silence until a new beak grows.
With it, the eagle pulls out each of its old talons—one by one.
When they return, sharp and strong, it uses them to pluck the heavy feathers from its chest and wings.

One hundred and fifty days.
Of struggle.
Of pain.
Of isolation.

But when it ends—the eagle rises.
Reborn.
Stronger.
Free.

And it soars for another thirty years.

The Lesson for Us
To truly live, we must sometimes endure the same trial.
Change hurts. It strips away comfort. It demands we let go of old habits, toxic patterns, and beliefs that no longer serve us.

But only by shedding the weight of the past can we rise into the future.

The pain of transformation is real.
But so is the power of rebirth.

Leadership expectations can be very confusing when you don't know what it actually entails, however it is important to always remember that you don't have to be a perfect person or leader to be successful at it.

Those new to leadership in most cases chase perfection in their in leadership roles especiallyin their early years, and as a result become micro managers, obsessive and over bearing to their team. This type of behaviour will quickly turn a high performing and collaborative environment into a toxic one which will not benefit you but rather detriment your success and reputation.

You will also suffer burnout, leading to long term sickness or adverse impact to your mental wellbeing.

So many times I have watched those new to leadership burn bridges, go backwards in performance and build a toxic environments within a couple of weeks of taking up the leadership role. This is the most painful observation to witness as you know the long term impact on the leader and team, but you sometimes have to let them be and try untill when they seek help

It's like watching a baby starting to walk or crawl and you watch them attempt to do so, a few steps, and fall and up again untill when they become steady because they do have to do this independently and you have to give them the space to practice.

Use and apply the same 80:20 rule in your leadership. So long as you are seeking and making progress with your your team abd achieving the right outcomes in a creative and high performing environment, then you are doing OK, just keep improving on that.

If you happen to be in a leadership role and like to block progress for your own personal selfish reasons or if not fit for the role, then it's time for you to step away and let those who cause the right movement leading to progression and success take over.

However, first and foremost you are an obstacles to your own progress and team's progress.

Secondly you become a drain too heavy to carry or maintain for the company and therefore leading to your redundancy or gentle push out of the company by placing you in roles that you will find to be a step down. As a result, you get frustrated and annoyed by senior management decision and eventually you leave at your own accord 🤝

Piece of advice, leave before it get to the above if the potential exit package is not worth your remaining working years and reputation.

Remember, the same company will have to provide a reference for your next role 😉. Also Leadership roles don't come round very often and it takes awhile to secure a new one.
