Oh, wine, how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. You take the edge off at the end of a long day, you bring out the flavor in the yummiest foods and your bottles make for the best DIY projects. Come to think of it, so do wine corks. AND wine crates. Sure, most of us only buy wine by the bottle, but the fine folks at our local wine shop usually don’t mind parting with their open-faced wooden boxes once they’re through with them. Maybe we can’t all have the wine cellar of our dreams or order our bottles by the dozen, but that won’t stop us from enjoying our favorite reds, whites and rosés and thinking up cool ways to upcycle those crates into something awesome.1. $3 DIY Nightstand: The process behind this upcycling project has just two steps: stain and stack. The folks who made it spent $1 per wine crate and used a can of wood stain they already had on hand. Looking to add a little color to your bedroom? Paint would work just as well. (via Redbook)2. High/Low Modular Bookshelves: It’s amazing what a few binder clips and a bit of ingenuity can do. Case in point: this bric-a-brac-style shelving system which can be modified at any time to fit a different space, accommodate items in a different order or just plain mix things up for fun. Awesome gadget

Smartphones with built-in projectors -- well, just the two from Samsung, really -- haven't exactly been a huge hit so far, but Lenovo thinks it's finally got the right use case for this combination: beaming a touchscreen or virtual keyboard onto your desk. Announced at the Lenovo Tech World conference today is the Smart Cast, the world's first smartphone with an integrated focus-free laser projector, as opposed to the DLP tech on existing pico projectors. In addition to the usual wall projection mode, there's a "surface mode" that requires twisting the projector cap at the top (to enable reflection), propping up the phone with its kickstand, and then you'll have a projected touchscreen -- be it a virtual piano, a virtual keyboard or even Fruit Ninja -- right in front of you. There is a certain sense of irony in Samsung making an official website for a product it only produced 1,000 units of, and which is clearly marked as “Sold Out” already.Earlier this month Samsung announced plans to release a limited edition run of Iron Man-branded Galaxy S6 Edge units, and despite not having formally launched just yet, we’re already seeing the first units hit Ebay at quite extraordinary prices. As of the time of this writing, of the 7 different auctions for Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Limited Edition, the highest is sitting pretty at $7,100, with over 2 days remaining before the auction ends. It needs to be clarified that this isn’t a “value proposition” by any means; said auction has 49 bids on it, which means that barring any potential default on payment, someone will be forking over the better part of 10K, if not more.Yes that’s right. The current highest priced auction for the S6 Edge Iron Man Edition is going for no less than $7,100. WITH bids.The high pricing is an example of supply and demand at its finest. The “supply” issue is indeed a problematic one, as there are just 1000 units produced for Korea, and unlike some other limited S6 Edge, the physical product itself is serially numbered. A certain sense of irony is also in place, as given the fact the phone hasn’t shipped yet to these sellers, none of these eager capitalists can know which of the thousand they actually will receive. Just imagine if the current top-dollar auction ends at close to $15,000 and winds up being serially numbered 973. At the very least number 1 (0001) or even 1000 would seek to command much higher price tags. Buyer beware, indeed.Galaxy S6 EdgeIt will be interesting to see what final price these auctions end at, and for that matter, how the pricing scale changes when the device launches next month in additional Asian territories. How much would you be willing to pay for such a limited edition item?
