Puglia vs Sicily - Which One is Easier on Your Wallet? 💰🇮🇹
Let's talk cost - because this one might actually help you decide! 💰🇮🇹
We spent nearly three weeks in each region and when it came to budget, Sicily won by a clear margin.
💰 Accommodations - significantly cheaper in Sicily 🚗 Car rental - more affordable in Sicily 🍝 Meals & food - better value in Sicily 🚆 Transportation - easier on the wallet in Sicily 📅 Keep in mind - we were in Puglia in August at peak season 🍂 And in Sicily in November at low season
Timing definitely plays a role, but even accounting for that we genuinely feel your dollar goes further in Sicily regardless of when you go.
If budget is a factor in your decision between these two incredible regions of Southern Italy - Sicily gets the edge. But trust us, neither one will disappoint! 🙌

Puglia vs Sicily - The Food Battle! Which One Wins? 🍝🇮🇹
Let's talk food - because this might be the most important part of the whole debate! 🍝🇮🇹
Both regions are Italy, so you already know the food is incredible. But they are very different from each other!
Puglia: 🍝 Orecchiette made fresh by the Nonnas right in the streets 🧀 Burrata - need we say more? 🫓 Focaccia that absolutely stole our hearts 🥪 Puccis for quick street eats and sandwiches
Sicily: 🍅 Pasta alla Norma as a staple main dish 🛒 Markets with a next level food scene 🦐 Incredible seafood and charcuterie boards 🍊 Arancinis - completely different everywhere you go and absolutely amazing
And the cost? Sicily came in noticeably more affordable across the board - dinners out, lunches, everything. Puglia had plenty of affordable options too, but overall just a little bit more expensive food-wise.
Both regions? Absolutely fantastic for food. But if your stomach is doing the deciding - you really cannot go wrong either way! 🙌

Hotel Fire Alarm at 4:30 AM - Here's What We Grabbed! 🚨😅 (Travel Safety Tip)
4:30 AM. Fire alarm. Entire hotel evacuated to the streets. This is what woke us up this morning! 🚨😅
Luckily it was a false alarm - but it made us realize we were completely unprepared for a quick hotel evacuation. Here's what we grabbed and what we WISH we had grabbed:
✅ Laptops - grabbed them ✅ Passports - grabbed them ✅ Wallets - grabbed them ✅ Phones - grabbed them ❌ Proper clothing - Chris wore a housecoat and slippers 😂
What we'd do differently: 👟 Keep a full set of clothes ready to throw on fast 🎒 Have a go-bag prepped by the bed every single night 📄 Passports & wallets always in the same spot - no hunting around 💻 Laptops packed and ready to grab in seconds 🔑 Know exactly where your room key is before you sleep
It was a false alarm this time. But it got us thinking - are YOU prepared for a hotel evacuation? Most travelers aren't and we weren't either until 4:30 this morning hit us like a wake up call!

The Most Important Stop We Made in Vientiane, Laos 🕊️ (COPE Center)
This one stopped us in our tracks. Every traveler visiting Vientiane needs to see this. 🕊️
Between 1964 and 1973, over 2 billion kilos of bombs were dropped on Laos during the Vietnam War. Here are the facts that left us speechless:
💣 More bombs dropped on Laos than Germany & Japan COMBINED in all of WWII ⏱️ For 9 years - a planeload of bombs every 8 minutes, 24 hours a day 💥 A third of those bombs are STILL scattered across the country 🌾 30% failed to explode - now buried in rice fields, forests, playgrounds & backyards 😢 Farmers hit them while plowing, children mistake them for toys 🏥 COPE provides rehabilitation for victims of accidents that still happen daily 🆓 The center is completely FREE - it's all about education and awareness
This is not just history. This is happening right now, today, in Laos.
