EITAN EXPLORES: MEXICO CITY

Eitan explores the diversity of Jewish-Mexican culture and cuisine in a new docuseries with Tastemade premiering tomorrow morning at 10am ET/PT.

From preparing a traditional Shabbat “Sobremesa” to visiting quintessential taco stands, reimagined delicatessens, and famed synagogues intertwined in the fabric of CDMX’s storied Jewish community, the seven episodes tell the story of a melting pot of culture and people deeply connected to the spirit of their country as well as their ancestral roots.

Executive produced by purpose-driven visionaries Jacqueline Lobel, Rachel Kastner, and Daniella Greenbaum with industry veteran Petr Cikhart serving as DoP, the series features an eclectic ensemble including Pati Jinich, Estrella Jafif, Niddo, Mendl, and others.

Inspired by his visit last summer to Italy, Eitan is bringing the Amalfi coast to The Washington Post today with this dessert filled with sunny lemon flavors. 🍋

Starting with a salted shortbread cookie crust, this pie pairs beautifully with the smooth, tangy custard, the candied lemons, and the hint of limoncello. While the crust bakes, the custard filling comes together on the stovetop and, after the pie cools, it gets topped with limoncello candied lemon slices and a dollop of fresh whipped limoncello cream.

Food writer Eitan Bernath was inspired by a visit to a limoncello factory on the Amalfi coast in Italy to create this dessert filled with the sunny flavors of lemon.

For over 2,000 years, Ethiopian Jews have dreamed of their return to Israel. This week, that dream became a reality for 111 olim (immigrants).

Eitan traveled this week with the The Jewish Agency for Israel from Addis Ababa to Jerusalem to accompany the latest cohort as they left their homes in Gondar to embark on the next chapter of their lives in Israel.
