The first small planes used to land where Lázaro Cárdenas Plaza is located today.
In the 1940s, an accident occurred in which a plane crashed into the sea, killing everyone on board; consequently, flights were suspended.
Some time later, a dirt airstrip was opened behind the site where the Jacobo high school used to stand. Among those who arrived there was Cantinflas (the image of Cantinflas is from that very area).
The dirt track visible in the old photograph is what we now call Francisco Villa.
