Mr. Malik is an experienced strategic advisor to businesses, family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals in Southeast Asia. He has significant experience and relationships with governments in the SEA region having served as a senior public officer in Energy Market Authority and from his stint as an equity partner in a leading law firm. He provides strategic intelligence to clients, law firms, private equity firms, regulators, ultra-high net worth families, financial institutions to assist them in minimizing risks and exploiting opportunities in investments mergers and acquisitions, disputes and restructuring and insolvency matters.

Prior to his appointment as Managing Director for the C|T Group, Mr. Malik was a Partner in a leading law firm in Singapore. Mr. Malik’s achievements include being the first non-lawyer in Singapore legal history to be awarded equity partnership in a law firm.

Mr. Malik previously held senior positions in the energy and trade sectors for the Singapore and New Zealand governments. Mr. Malik also serves as Chair on the Strategic Advisory Board of the International Fraud Group (IFG), a global network of highly skilled international lawyers who specialise in tracing, freezing, seizing and recovering stolen assets.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : The Asian Women’s Business Alliance (AWBA) is honoured to welcome Mr. Geomar Esmilia, Chief Information Security Officer at the UN Migration Agency (IOM), as an advisor to the alliance.

At the UN Migration Agency (IOM), Mr. Geomar oversees cybersecurity and digital risk management across operations in more than 100 countries. Based in Geneva, he leads efforts to strengthen information security and enable secure digital transformation in complex international settings.

Mr. Geomar brings to AWBA a valuable depth of experience in data protection, compliance, and digital governance. His work reflects a deep commitment to creating safe and resilient digital environments, especially in contexts where trust and security are essential.

As AWBA continues to support women-led enterprises across Asia, Mr. Geomar’s guidance will help ensure that digital growth is grounded in security, inclusivity, and long-term sustainability. His perspective will be particularly important as more women entrepreneurs navigate the opportunities and challenges of the digital economy.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : The Asian Women’s Business Alliance (AWBA) is proud to announce the appointment of Professor Dr. Cheah Phaik Kin to its prestigious Panel of Advisors.

Professor Dr. Cheah, a Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), is a renowned academic and practitioner whose expertise spans public safety, volunteer policing, and community resilience. Since 2014, she has served with distinction as a Lance Corporal in the Royal Malaysia Police Volunteer Reserve, bringing a rare blend of frontline experience and academic insight to her work.

Her commitment to volunteerism and public engagement has earned her international recognition, including a place on the Advisory Board of the Center for Public Safety and Justice at the University of Virginia, where she helps shape global strategies in volunteer law enforcement.

With research focused on empowering volunteerism through organizational support and motivation, Professor Dr. Cheah is a thought leader in community-based policing. Her leadership in global symposiums and collaborative networks reflects her deep dedication to building safer, more resilient communities through civic participation.

As a member of the AWBA Executive Committee, Professor Dr. Cheah will bring invaluable perspectives to the Alliance’s mission of championing women’s leadership and advancing inclusive development across Asia. Her appointment strengthens AWBA’s strategic direction in promoting public safety, civic engagement, and women’s empowerment at every level of society.

She has held various leadership positions, including Director of Universiti Malaya’s Centre for Innovation and Commercialization, Associate Vice Chancellor (Industry Engagement), founder and CEO of UM Innovations Sdn. Bhd., and CEO of UMCapital Bhd. She also served a four-year secondment as Undersecretary of the National Biotechnology Division at Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, overseeing key programs under the National Biotechnology Policy.

The founding leadership team of 𝗔𝗪𝗕𝗔 brings together accomplished women who have made significant contributions to the business and investment landscape:

+ 𝗘𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗺𝗮𝗻, the 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁, is the CEO and Co -founder of Ata Plus Sdn Bhd, a leader in equity crowdfunding and financial technology.

+ 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗮𝗻, the CEO of Citaglobal Capital Sdn Bhd will take on the role of 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆-𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹, ensuring the Alliance's administration and governance are effectively executed across the organisation.
