George Town Literary Festival [21-24 November 2019]:
Over 80 events will run in UAB Building, BlackKettle, Hikayat, Nook Books & Coffee and Loft 29.

The 2019 program will be featuring daily lectures from renowned intellectuals such as Eliot Weinberger and Goenawan Mohamad, 1-1 conversations with celebrated writers including 2019 Man Booker International Prize winner Jokha Alharthi and Saras Manickam, panel discussions, showcased readings, writing workshops and performances.

THE conservation of the Old Prangin Market, archaeological sites and landscaping of Sia Boey Rejuvenation Project is starting to take shape.

The project is being undertaken by PDC in collaboration with GTWHI, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and with other stakeholders like Think City and George Town Conversation & Development Corporation.

George Town has become the first city in Asia to run a trial of Terragraph, a new gigabit wireless Internet technology developed by Facebook. A live speed test showed that Terragraph is able to reach up to 1.3Gbps for downloads and 1.7Gbps for uploads.

Enjoy free high-speed broadband in this 6-month trial starting from 1 March 2019 at George Town heritage sites.
