Grant supports hands-on vocational learning through the school’s Herb & Reflexology Garden under the Integrated Special Education Program Unit (PPKI)

Desaru Coast, November 2025 - Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast has awarded a USD5,000 Hard Rock Heals Foundation Grant to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Adela in Johor, strengthening one of the region’s most active Integrated Special Education Program (PPKI) units and advancing the hotel’s long-term ESG commitment to community-focused education.

General Manager & Area Vice President, Murray Aitken, together with Sustainability & ESG Manager, Yana Ali, visited the school to present the contribution and meet the teachers leading the project. The grant supports the expansion of SMK Adela’s Herb & Reflexology Garden, a hands-on learning space designed to equip special education students with practical vocational and life skills.

Desaru Coast, Johor — Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast has concluded its 2025 PINKTOBER® charity
campaign with MYR 37,500 raised for the Breast Cancer Support Group (BCSG) Johor Bahru.
Delivered through 12 touchpoints across the month, the initiative combined artist-led highlights,
memorabilia, art, community programming and guest activations across the property — with Joss
Stone, Ella and Yazmin Aziz anchoring the campaign’s visibility and impact.

Artist Memorabilia Lead the Fundraising Effort
The silent auction opened with a collection of staycation vouchers from Hard Rock properties in
Maldives, Bali, Penang, Shenzhen, Pattaya and other regional destinations. These were
complemented by contributions from partners including Sisters Magazine, B.R. You, Brytte & Bonn
Collection, La Estephe and Sands Art Gallere, forming a curated set of 23 auction items.

The headline pieces were two artist-signed guitars, one autographed by Malaysia’s Queen of Rock,
Ella, and another by Grammy-winning vocalist Joss Stone which generated significant bidder
interest. Yazmin Aziz performed live two nights at the Hard Rock stage paying tribute to breast cancer
survivors.

Cultural Art Installation with Artist Collaboration
A sculptural PINKTOBER® centrepiece was showcased in the hotel lobby as the visual marker of the
campaign. Created by Johor talents Nina Nazri and Alifph Rajmaslan, the installation incorporated
Rangoli-inspired guitar-pick motifs and a sweeping 108-vinyl train, merging cultural symbolism with
Hard Rock’s music-first identity. The piece remained on display throughout the campaign, serving as
a focal point for guest engagement.
