The ancient kingdom, and later sultanate, of Kedah has existed long before the Melaka sultanate but this narrative has somehow not been at the forefront of our collective memory about our nationโ€™s ancient origins.

๐˜›๐˜ถ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฌ๐˜ถ ๐˜›๐˜ข๐˜ถ๐˜ง๐˜ฆ๐˜ฌ ๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ถ๐˜ณ (or Tommy for short) has been a driving force behind the book ๐™†๐™š๐™™๐™–๐™: ๐™๐™๐™š ๐˜ผ๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ž๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ก๐™–๐™ฎ ๐™†๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™™๐™ค๐™ข, which was authored by the late ๐˜‘๐˜ช๐˜ฎ ๐˜™๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ. Tunku Taufek is now on a re-energised mission to deepen our appreciation for the rich history of the land that we live in.

In this talk, Tommy will shine a light on the origins of the Malay people and their cultural heritage, by laying out the factual chronology of historical events in Kedah and elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

It is with great sadness to inform that Jim Muhammed Mansur Redmond, one of the authors of Kedah the Ancient Malay Kingdom book passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening around midnight. He will be buried today 26th April 2024 at Tanah Perkuburan Alor Merah in Alor Setar InsyaaAllah after Friday prayers. May Allah swt place him amongst the righteous. Al Fatihah
