He has chalked 17 years of advertising experience with Mc

Cann-Erickson and Astana International before founding Cipta Asia and its group of companies. His rise was meteoric and he became among the youngest admen to be Group Account Director in a multinational agency after only 7 years with McCann-Erickson. He amassed expertise in handling international brands such as Coca-Cola, Levi’s, Tourism Authority of Thailand and blue chip accounts such as Petronas Dagangan and Tourism Malaysia (West Asia market). The highlight of his career was being the project manager for the 1997 FIFA/Coca-Cola World Youth Cup Football Tournament held in Malaysia where he successfully managed and coordinated the participation of 16 countries in that second biggest tournament after the World Cup, together spearheading its advertising and promotional requirements at Asian level. Apart from that, arguably, he was instrumental in his foray to launch, re-brand and manage successful campaigns such as Chup! Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Enjoy, Levi’s Are You A Star, Kad Mesra Dream, Swipe & Win Promotion and many more. He founded Cipta Asia Sdn Bhd and soon after, in collaboration with others, Cipta Asia Motion Sdn Bhd, Cipta Asia Worldwide Sdn Bhd, Cipta Asia Syndication Sdn Bhd, Cipta Asia Design Sdn Bhd and Lemon9 Sdn Bhd were formed. These companies provide a range of services that encompass communication work from advertising, broadcast production, post production and experiential activation. Given all that have been said, Arif Effendi Alias can best be summed up by the words of Ben Johnson, 1640: “He knows not his own strength that hath not met adversity.”

There are now too many self professed branding experts in Malaysia. From a product owner who struts like always on a catwalk to an actor who has acted in too many dramas that you tend to forget to even a youth looking social media operator who life depends on creating sensations and too many that wear shades on too many disturbing billboards along the highway and the byways. You often question yourself, to what extend of branding successes that they allow themselves to proclaim that they are the kings and queens of branding? Sensations, yes creates buzz but it never sustainable nor everlasting. Think about the gurus that create coke, nike, apple ads. You almost 100% don’t know them but exist serving the best brands in the world that withstand the test of time and turbulence. It’s a funny moment in the spheres of branding world that continues to decieve and get lapped.

This is where it all begin. The misadventures of my lifetime. Actually our second coming.

CiptaAsia Worldwide Sdn Bhd. We occupied this Banglow that we called Wisma CiptaAsia and many fond memories were made in 2006.

The harsh reality, no matter how noble your intentions to help others. It never is and will be reciprocated.

The truth is, everyone has their own mode to survive.

A couple of us .oldschool, bozio, to name a few has been too kind to support my (ill)-intentions back then from 2004. Because of an odd background (challenging to say the least) but had the good fortune to accelerate early in my career, I had thought I could help others achieve what some of us have achieved in our young careers. Though, most of them buy the idea to aim high and be successful, but mental and physical drive was never there to begin with. I could be ‘kill’ to say that in our predominant society the ‘M’ factor exists. Malu, Malas, Merajuk and Meroyan holds true. It is what it is. Everybody has only one blinker - survival.

Thank you to Quddin, Zaki, Mkay, Bozo and then some. I never really thank you enough.

Low - we started on a back foot with a failed project and owed 1.5 milion.

High - out of 10 business pitches, we won 9. Our billings quickly rose to 10 million in a single year.

Wisma Cipta Asia forever remains as a symbol to never try go out of your way to help others who has never immersed themselves to the concept of full commitment, efforts and never say die to achieve stardom.

But alas, old habit never dies. Here I am dreaming to propel others to greater heights, again.
