It was quite a while ago — before social media, influencers, or KOLs. Back then, it was all about creating a strong TV commercial and getting it straight onto the TV stations.
We shot this overnight at Tesco Mutiara (now Lotus's). The crew and cast could only move in at 11:00PM. From there, it was a race against time.
We began by locking down the shooting locations and camera angles. Then came the meticulous work of rearranging products and groceries to make them camera-ready. Every single item went through close quality control — packaging had to look immaculate, while fresh produce needed to appear as fresh and vibrant as possible on screen.
The working conditions were far from ideal. At midnight, the store’s air-conditioning automatically shut down. We had to bring in stand fans just to keep the cast looking fresh under the lights and on camera.
Cast rehearsals, make-up, and wardrobe were all done inside the store, within a very tight timeframe. Then it was: “Ready… Camera… Action!”
By 7:00AM, we had to pack up and leave the premises — with everything restored exactly as it was before we arrived. Those eight hours passed in what felt like minutes.
In the end, all the hard work paid off with a well-crafted TV commercial that delivered exactly what it was meant to do.
