“Capture Me.”
(My lesson with God and media)
We were resting after an entire morning of song writing and I had put down my camera gear to rest. The boys started worshipping and I felt the same voice that I do in my times of prayer… “Pick up your phone and capture Me.” I scrambled for the phone and obeyed.
This clip has become the trajectory of my vision for media mountain this season. We’re not here to analyse an algorithm or create the perfect controlled environment to best recreate an emotion/moment. We’re not even here to be the best storyteller known to mankind. We’re here to capture God.
In relationship with Him, we know which songs to sing. In relationship with Him, we can pray, preach, work and.. make content. It creates this posture of listening and waiting on the Lord and that’s a tough wrestle. Often as skilled labourers (worship teams, media teams) we rely so much on our technical expertise that we set our gaze on perfection. Yet there is only ONE standard, Jesus. As a visual creator this verse rings true:
“I can only do (capture), what I see my Father in Heaven doing.”
So as a creative, it’s come back to the Creator and letting Him be the source of what we create. There is no burn out or fatigue in Him, there is no artist block at the cross. It’s an endless story, in fact the most beautiful story told to mankind and it is where we will create from.
There is only one story that truly changed our lives. I’d like my life, and my skillsets echoing His story. God doesnt need your expensive camera, He needs a life poured out. (Shot this on the phone)
