everyone in malaysia suddenly wants to “build an ai agent.” most of them shouldn’t. 👇

caught this framework at an ai talk and it’s the clearest filter i’ve seen. before you (or anyone you pay) builds an agent, run the idea through 4 questions:
1. complex enough? simple task → workflow. complex → agent.
2. valuable enough? agents burn tokens. the task has to be worth it.
3. feasible enough? if not every part is doable, cut the scope first.
4. error severity? high
cost of mistakes → keep a human in the loop.
most ai projects fail because they skipped these. “agent or workflow” isn’t a vibe, it’s a decision.

last week I attended SIDEC‘s OpenClaw & AI Agents for SMEs workshop, led by Daren Tan

A room of business people building and deploying AI agents in one morning, no code.

we installed OpenClaw locally and the Lark session stood out as a genuine, lower-cost alternative to the Microsoft and Google ecosystems for automation.

My honest take as a practitioner: the stack never stops evolving AI, ML, deep learning, generative AI, now agentic AI. The disciplined move isn’t chasing the newest layer, it‘s implementing what actually fits the business and measurably automates real work. Fit beats novelty.
