How do we measure PR or digital?

There are so many answers out there, and we think that many of them make sense. Ultimately though, we believe that we need to treat investments in this area (Public Relations, Content, Social Media, Digital and Events) as a discussion on the real Return on Investment (ROI) of your marketing and business activities.

Sounds complicated? It could be. But there are some things that can help make it much better.

More importantly, as we have done for over 1,000 brands and projects over the recent years, we can help you unlock the potential of your investment in these areas, while discovering how to improve your business' performance!

Some quick ways include:

1. Aligning your PR strategy with your business goals and objectives. Now this one seems pretty obvious, but you would be surprised how many brands are not fully focused on this. Small steps lead to big results! It also helps to set up a way to effectively measure where you are and where you are going.

2. Decide up front what you need - is it awareness, leads, issues management, sales, employee retention, or some combination of things? Then build from there. Not the other way around.

3. Issues management success starts by preparing before you have an issue. We spend a lot of time working on plans, scenarios and preparations for things that could go wrong. Leads to better outcomes for when they do.

4. Look at your organisation as a single entity and operate at that level. Communications. PR, digital - they need to be a board level discussion. Not squirreled away as an afterthought. The most successful brands on the planet treat their communications as mission critical - you should too.

5. Be open to doing what works for your brand - not just what your competitors are doing.
