JOIN OUR TEAM AS BUSINESS DEVELOPER
The “Business Developer” will be responsible for the marketing & sales of our company’s products in Malaysia. This position is reporting to the Malaysian Country Sales Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain and expand our existing customer base
• Structured and consequent follow up on existing orders, inquiries, offers, payments and related matters
• Generate leads, and develop them into buying customers
• Develop opportunities for for cross sales and introduce new products
• Achieve or exceed the agreed yearly sales or gross margin targets
• Represent & promote APP Timber as the leading innovative timber solutions provider

REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 5 years sales & marketing experience preferably in wood-related industries
• Proactive and able to work independently with daily reporting
• Fluent in Mandarin and Hokkien and proficient in written and spoken English
• In possession of a valid driving licence and a car
• Computer literate

APP Timber celebrates its 25th year of being in the business of timber trading. What started as a two-person operation with a small office in Malaysia in 1998 has grown into a group of companies with staff and operations in Southeast Asia. Before starting the company, Michael was a partner in a machine trading company from 1987 onwards that supplied complete timber production lines and single machines to Asian companies, from sawmilling to packaging. This allowed all then colleagues to travel across South Asia, often to remote places deep into the forest where most logging and sawmills were located. Our business boomed in the ‘90s due to the development of the Rubberwood furniture industry (old Rubberwood trees used to be burned in the past). The Asian timber processing industry has grown phenomenally, and the rate of deforestation of both natural tropical forests and plantation Rubberwood was enormous. After the machine company was sold a few years later, Asia Panel Products (later renamed APP Timber) was founded to import FSC-certified sawn timber to Southeast Asia. Initially, we dealt in Pine and Eucalyptus Grandis sawn timber from South Africa in 1998, and over the years, we traded in a growing range of products from all over the world.
Today, our business consists of two main activities. On the one hand, the sourcing and marketing of logs, timber, veneer, and panels for Asian manufacturers; on the other hand, the sourcing of Asian-made products for export to overseas customers. The latter has become an important contributor to our revenues and continues to grow at a steady pace. Profound machine knowledge, understanding of production processes, and focus on providing customized solutions have been key in building strong marketing and sales teams across our operations. Furthermore, quality control is a vital service component of our export business. Our strict production control and thorough inspection by dedicated teams before loading is praised by our suppliers and buyers alike. Since we consider suppliers and buyers equally as our customers, who deserve the same quality of attention and service, we have developed strong partnerships on both ends of the supply chain. Over the years, we have kept and further expanded APP Timber’s core qualities: providing imported timber solutions, sourcing globally, excellent service to buyers & suppliers in mutual partnership. The past 25 years have been a great journey, and we look forward to the next 25 years.
