Not everyone comments.

Not everyone likes.

Not everyone tells you they're watching.

Some people discover you quietly.

They see another post.

Then another.

Then another.

They start trusting your work.

And six months later, they contact you.

Don't assume silence means nobody cares.

Keep showing up.

That's okay.

Your job isn't to make everybody love your work.

Your job is to make the right people say:

Create for them.

Thousands of people use the same design tools.

Thousands have watched the same tutorials.

Thousands can learn the same techniques.

But nobody has your exact combination of memories, experiences, humour, culture and perspective.

That's your advantage.

Technique can be learned.

Your perspective is yours.

Put more of it into your work.

A follower might see your post.

A fan waits for it.

A follower might like your design.

A fan tells somebody about you.

A follower knows your username.

A fan knows your style.

That's a completely different relationship.

Don't only ask:

“How do I get more followers?”

Ask:

“How do I make people care about what I'm building?”

Help someone feel understood.

Turn something boring into something interesting.

Some of the best creative businesses aren't built around decoration.

They're built around solving ordinary problems in interesting ways.

Look around.

“Would somebody send this to a friend?”

That's a powerful test.

Maybe it makes them laugh.

Maybe it makes them think.

Maybe it says exactly what they've been feeling.

Maybe it's simply beautiful enough that they want somebody else to see it.

People share things that create a reaction.

Don't only create something people can look at.

Create something worth passing along.

Creators sometimes think inspiration has to come from somewhere extraordinary.

It doesn't.

Listen to conversations.

Notice what makes people laugh.

Notice what frustrates people.

Remember childhood stories.

Look at signs.

Music.

Food.

Culture.

Daily life.

Creative people don't necessarily see a different world.

They learn to notice more of the world that's already there.

You see their beautiful portfolio.

Their followers.

Their clients.

Their products.

Their confidence.

What you don't see are the years before that.

The awkward work.

The ignored posts.

The mistakes.

The almost-gave-up moments.

You're looking at the result while living through your beginning.

Give yourself time.

Keep writing your chapter.

A lot of creators wait for the day they'll magically discover their style.

It usually doesn't happen like that.

You create.

Experiment.

Copy things while learning.

Change direction.

Make terrible work.

Make better work.

And eventually you start noticing patterns.

“This feels like me.”

That's your style beginning to appear.

Don't wait for it.

Create your way into it.

Someone might visit your profile without liking anything.

And somebody might eventually buy.

Likes are one signal.

They are not the whole story.
