A performance for the history books!
Welterweight Terence Crawford stops Errol Spence Jr in round nine at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Crawford becomes a two-weight undisputed champion – the first male to achieve this feat in the four-belt era.
Spence, who was dropped three times before the referee halted the contest, lost for the first time in his 29th pro fight.
Crawford is now WBO, WBC, WBA (Super) and IBF champion and has won all 40 pro fights.
Crawford, on the stoppage: “It was a good stoppage. I was on the verge. The referee did what he was supposed to do to protect the fighter.”
Errol Spence Jr: “He was the better fighter on the night, he dictated with the jab, my timing was a little bit off and he was catching me between shots.
“His timing was just better tonight, I make no excuses. He was the better man tonight.
“He was throwing the harder jab, he had his timer down on point.”
“Hell yeah, we gotta do it again. Hopefully in December at the end of the year and hopefully at 154 pounds.”
