I created a Unity game for Pixel Penguin using Opus 5. And I must say, it's amazing.

It's called Ship It. You play a penguin developer trying to get ten client projects out before Friday. Every level is one of our actual projects. You stomp bugs, you descope scope creep, and when you run into legacy code you throw a rubber duck at it.

There are 28 floppy disks hidden around the levels with facts about our team. Some of the pipes you can go down, and there are whole rooms behind them. Most people won't find them.

Runs in the browser. Works on your phone.

Play it: https://pixel-penguin.com/game/

It felt like having another developer sitting next to me. I'd suggest something and he'd agree, or tell me why not. I could tell him what to build. I could tell him what I'd built and ask him to review it.

We're in a new time.

Time to introduce the main Penguin! Meet Gerrit Vermeulen.

He has been building software since 2009 and moved into DevOps around 2018, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP. He works with serverless systems, Python, Node.js, automation, and AI, building scalable solutions that are reliable, practical, and made to work in the real world.

When he is not working full-time like a boss, he is probably testing a new AI idea, making funny videos with AI, or finding ways to make life and work simpler. He is also the guy making sure everyone stays calm, has fun, and keeps the vibe chilled while the serious work gets done. πŸ˜‰

Got a software idea, need help with cloud infrastructure, or want to use AI to streamline and automate parts of your business? Get in touch, we’d love to help.

Our latest project is live, and it's one we're really excited about.

Let's be honest: the law is confusing. It's written in a language most of us don't speak, buried in documents most of us will never read. When you actually need an answer, finding it is hard, slow, and often expensive.

So we built something to change that.

Introducing law.namibian.life, a website where anyone can ask a legal question in plain language and get a clear answer, instantly. No legal jargon, no digging through hundreds of pages, no guesswork.

It also comes with ready-to-use example contracts. Need a basic agreement? Pick a template, fill in your details, and download it as a PDF, all in a few clicks.

Best of all, it's completely free and open to the public.

Our hope is simple: to make the law easy for the everyday person. Whether you're checking your rights, drafting a contract, or just curious about what the law actually says, everything you need is now one search away.

Try it out and let us know what you think:
https://law.namibian.life

This is still an experiment, so your feedback means the world to us. If you find it useful, share it with someone who might need it. 😊

We are proud to introduce MyShieldIQ, powered by BRS Business Risk Solutions , a complete health, safety and compliance platform we built from the ground up for our client.

MyShieldIQ connects teams in the field with management in the office through one central system.

The native mobile app allows field teams to submit incident reports, complete risk assessments, manage permits and conduct inspections directly from their phones.

The web dashboard gives back-office teams access to analytics, training matrices, compliance registries and real-time notifications, all in one place.

The platform also includes AI-assisted root-cause analysis, helping teams turn incident data into practical corrective actions and clear action plans within seconds.

Behind the scenes, MyShieldIQ runs on a 100% serverless architecture. There are no traditional servers to maintain, the platform can scale instantly from one user to thousands, and infrastructure costs grow according to actual usage.

Fast, secure, scalable and built to support safer workplaces.

We could not be prouder of this project. 🐧

Did you see the daredevil penguins who climbed all the way to the top of the Empire State Building?

Okay, maybe not actual penguins... but the message still stands:

TAKING SOFTWARE IDEAS TO NEW HEIGHTS.

At Pixel Penguin, we turn ambitious ideas into practical software that works for your business. No climbing gear required. Just bring the idea. We’ll handle the build. πŸ˜‰

The AI the US government BANNED after 3 days? It's coming back 🟒 Commerce lifted the export controls, and Fable 5 is switching back on from July 1. Anthropic added a new safety filter that blocks the jailbreak 99%+ of the time. Is it weaker now? The model's untouched β€” but it'll refuse a bit more on borderline stuff πŸ€–

98.6% of public submissions said yes. More than 5,500 Namibians signed a petition. Hundreds filed formal requests under the law. In June 2026, CRAN answered, and refused Starlink again.

So we did something simple: we read CRAN's own four-page decision back, line by line.

This isn't a rant. Every quote in this video is taken directly from CRAN's published reasons. We just put them next to each other and let the document speak for itself.

What's actually in the letter:
β€’ It never re-examines the real issue (the 51% ownership question). It dismisses the requests on a technicality.
β€’ It concedes, in its own words, that "competition and connectivity were met."
β€’ It admits the spectrum licence was declined "inadvertently."
β€’ It claims it "lacked competence to entertain" the requests, yet it read and judged them to say so.
β€’ It says "the majority" failed the test, meaning some passed, then dismisses all of them.
β€’ It leans on a court case (S v Kakololo) that it admits "concerned an appeal," to hold ordinary citizens to a courtroom standard.
β€’ It calls the public's argument "not an issue ripe for reconsideration" because it had "already determined" it. In other words, you can't reconsider this, because we already decided.
β€’ Its own rules disagree on the clock: the Act allows 90 days; Regulation 20 says 30.
β€’ It can't even keep its own count straight: 624 in one line, 622 in the rest.

A country has every right to say no. The question this video asks is narrower: did the people who asked "why?" actually get an answer, or just a reason not to give one?

A note on honesty: the quotes and numbers above are taken from CRAN's published decision and from Namibian news reporting (The Namibian, Namibian Sun, New Era, Windhoek Observer). The interpretation, what those quotes add up to, is our analysis and opinion, offered for public debate. The detail that CRAN declined to review the 5,500+ petition because the comment period had lapsed is per reporting by IrΓ©ne-Mari van der Walt. If you have corrections, comment below and we'll pin them.

This is a follow-up to our first video on why Starlink is still not allowed in Namibia.

Say hello to our next Penguin! Maja Carstens.

She has worked in photography and graphic design since 2014, with a background spanning visual content creation, editing, and digital design. She brings creativity, a sharp eye for detail, and strong visual storytelling to every project she touches.

When she's not working, you'll find her crouched over her desk like a shrimp playing games, fuelled by coffee and chocolate, or out and about with her two dachshunds (who are, let's be honest, the ones actually in charge). πŸ˜‰

Need a photographer? Got a software idea, a design project, or want to bring in AI to streamline and automate parts of your business? Get in touch, we'd love to help.
