Namibian Agronomic Board - NAB The Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) is a statutory body, governed by the Agronomic Industry Act, Act No. 20 of 1992.

The 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 (𝐍𝐀𝐁) came into existence as a statutory body on 1 April 1985 in terms of the Agronomic Industry Proclamation AG 11 and AG 12 of 1985. In 1992, these Proclamations were replaced by the Agronomic Industry Act 20 of 1992, defining the Board’s powers and obligations. The financial, administrative and daily operational mechanism of the NAB is performed by the NAB Secretariat whose main functions are:

- Facilitating the marketing of controlled agronomic crops and regulating the market environment;

- Promoting domestically produced agronomic crops, fostering and improving the market for all declared crops and products thereof via its agent AMTA;

- Maintaining a regulatory framework for controlled crops and their products, recommending crops for gazetting, maintaining quality standards and the monitoring of controlled agronomic crops and their products;

- Managing the domestic trade environment and facilitating the development of grain and horticultural markets to ensure that its clients are not exposed to unfair trading practices;

- Developing projects and sources of funding to enhance small-scale agronomic production and marketing;

- Making recommendations to and advising the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF) on all issues relating to the agronomic industry. Controlled Crops in the agronomic sector in Namibia are mahangu (pear millet), wheat, white maize and horticulture fresh produce.

Behind Namibia’s food security is the passion, resilience, and hard work of our producers and value-chain partners. At NAHA 2026, the Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) proudly recognized outstanding and emerging excellence across the agricultural crop sector.

A special congratulations to our 2026 Master Value Chain Actors of the Year:

• Master Agronomy Actor: Derust-Kalahari Holding (Mavuto Mwanza)

• Master Horticulture Actor: Keyser Boerdery Trust (De Waal Keyser)

We celebrated our Outstanding Producers Eahero 129 (White Maize), De Klerk Farming (Wheat), Katrina M. Kagwe (Pearl Millet), and Cordova Farming CC (Horticulture) alongside our top innovators, processors, traders, and school garden projects!

A Resounding Success for Namibian Agriculture! 🌾🇳🇦

On Thursday, 17 September 2026, the Namibian Agronomic Board (NAB) proudly hosted the 2026 National Agronomy and Horticulture Awards (NAHA) at Omateko Lodge in Gobabis.

Convening under the theme, "Enhancing Resilience In Agriculture Through Crop Farming,".

This prestigious occasion recognized the exceptional contributions of all key value-chain actors. We proudly honored outstanding and emerging producers across white maize, pearl millet, wheat, and horticulture, alongside innovative youth farmers, processors, traders, exporters, service providers, and inspiring school garden initiatives.

A key highlight of the event was an insightful overview of the Namibian crop value chain sector, presented by NAB Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Fidelis N. Mwazi. We were also deeply honored by the presence and support of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Hon. Ruthy Masake, representing the Ministry's leadership.
