I used to think I was procrastinating because I was lazy. But recently, I realised something.
I was simply doing things at the wrong time.
For a while, I’ve wanted to create more content. I have ideas I want to share, things I want to teach, and experiences I want to talk about.
But there was one problem.
I always left content creation until the end of the day.
After attending to client projects, meeting deadlines, and doing other work, I would finally remember that I needed to create content.
By then, I was already exhausted.
So I would tell myself, “I’ll do it tomorrow.”
And tomorrow would come, and the cycle would repeat itself.
Until I decided to change one thing.
Instead of waiting until I finished all my work, I started making content one of the first things I do when I wake up.
And honestly, it has changed the way I approach content creation.
I’m no longer waiting until I’m tired before doing something that requires creativity, energy, and consistency.
This experience taught me something important.
Sometimes, productivity isn’t about doing more. It’s about knowing when to do what matters.
You might not be lazy. You might just be placing important tasks at a time when you have the least energy to do them.
If you’re struggling to read, learn a new skill, exercise, create content, or work on that personal project you’ve been postponing, try changing when you do it.
Don’t always wait until you’ve finished everything else before giving attention to the things that matter to you.
Identify when you have the most energy, create room for your priorities, and make it easier to get started.
Of course, this doesn’t mean everything must happen in the morning. Find the time that works best for you.
But stop blaming yourself every day for not being consistent without first examining your schedule.
Sometimes, you don’t need more motivation. You need a better system.
What is that one thing you’ve been postponing, and what could change if you started doing it at a different time? 👇
