CBM Inaugurates Lagos Executive, Intensifies Grassroots Drive for Renewed Hope Agenda
The City Boy Movement has inaugurated its Lagos State Executive Council, with its Director-General, Hon. Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, urging members to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and deepen public engagement with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Lagos, Shoga described the event as another important milestone in the movement’s expansion across Nigeria. He said the organisation was established to bridge the gap between government and citizens by promoting civic participation, youth engagement and community development.
He charged the newly inaugurated officials with ensuring that government policies, programmes and opportunities reach ordinary Nigerians, particularly young people, women, students, artisans, farmers and small business owners.
Shoga added that the movement would also provide a platform through which communities could communicate their concerns, needs and aspirations to those in government.
“We are not mere observers of these reforms. We are ambassadors of hope and partners in progress. Our duty is to ensure that government policies and opportunities reach the grassroots, while also providing a platform for the voices and aspirations of the people to be heard,” he said.
The Director-General commended the movement’s Patron, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, for his support for youth development and leadership. He also expressed confidence in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He highlighted ongoing initiatives in infrastructure, education, agriculture, social investment, economic reform and security as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development. He said the movement would continue to raise awareness of government programmes and opportunities at the grassroots.
Shoga urged members of the Lagos State Executive to see their appointments as a call to service rather than positions of privilege. He stressed the importance of integrity, discipline, humility and accountability in carrying out their responsibilities.
He directed the new leadership to expand the movement’s presence across all local government areas, local council development areas, wards, polling units and communities in Lagos State, noting that effective leadership should be measured by its impact on the lives of the people.
Earlier, the Lagos State Director of the City Boy Movement, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, described the inauguration as a significant step in the organisation’s nationwide growth.
Ogunlewe said the movement was founded on the principles of national unity, responsible leadership, discipline, solidarity and service. He explained that its objective was to empower young Nigerians to participate actively in democratic governance and national development.
According to him, the organisation promotes civic education, voter participation, leadership development, skills acquisition and community service, while supporting policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
He said the Lagos chapter would adopt a grassroots approach centred on communities, wards and polling units to strengthen public participation in governance and encourage responsible citizenship.
Ogunlewe added that the movement was committed to building bridges across ethnic, religious and regional divides, while developing future leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s long-term development.
He called on members to remain committed to the values of discipline, unity, integrity and selfless service as they begin the task of strengthening the organisation’s presence across Lagos State.
The event was attended by the movement’s Co-Patron Shettima Jnr.; National Secretary, Hon. Tosin Odufua; members of the national leadership; deputy directors-general; the Lagos State Director; and members of the newly inaugurated state executive.
