"Olowo lo lowo"
Businesses are for the rich.

Some of these Yoruba adages have a way of influencing who we are, how we perceive the world, and a lot of ideologies that could make us or mar us.

This one is one adage that I have been using to console myself when I see the likes of Dangote and Otedola opening more business and doing wonderfully well.

I foolishly say to myself Yinka he is not more intelligent than you, he doesn't have better business sense, it is just opportunity and money.

If someone should give me now habba, in a few years I will also be Dangote! Lies upon lies(iro lasan in shaikh's voice)

A lot of us give this same reason to ourselves that the reason we are not doing business is because of Capital.

I am sorry for you if you are still thinking this way.

Why do you think banks don't support start-up businesses?

Do you think it's because your business proposal or plan is not captivating?

Some time ago we are having a discussion in my office and a colleague asked which will I choose or Green card Abi na white paper he called it then? something like giving you a Visa to the US with permanent stay and working permits.

I was like why will I choose anything other than , I was looking at him like he is mad and he was also looking at me like you don't know what the US means!

Considering all I knew then, that will most likely remain zero today.

Take a look around you how many are the people that you knew 5years ago and you rated them very high in terms of big capital and business sense are worth today?

Most of these people are worth less than , some are only using old glory, and these examples are just on a general note.

I have done quite a number of businesses and in my experience having a huge sum to expand your business might not be what you need.

If truly your business needs expansion then the business itself should be able to fund the expansion.

Some business owners are quick to accept money from investors without a proper understanding of the challenges that are associated with expansion.

My major concern is about people with zero or little experience in business who believe the only reason they are not starting a business is capital.

I have seen several people who gather money to help family member or friends to start up a business but in a few years, they see him back in a bad state.

It is only a Yoruba man that will be shouting that they need capital to start a business,

A Hausa man will start from Almajiri to Mai ruwa, to selling dates, to selling little provision, to having kiosks, to having a superstore.

An Igbo will start as a sales boy, learn and serve his master and later become a shop owner.

A typical Yoruba man, because he can speak English believes he is too big to stoop so low to learn. He believes he can read and learn and with money, he will just start from the top.

After a few months, he will start visiting Babalawo saying village people dey follow am.

His step mum is not allowing his business to grow.

If you are eyeing a particular business and you think once you have capital you will start it.

Please, I beg you, (I lindown beg you) go and start by helping someone who is already in it, go and offer free service, if you see sales boy advert apply.

Tell the person you go to the office 8am to 4pm, tell him you will resume 4:30pm every working days and 9:00am weekends,
He can just pay for your transports or not.

You just like to do community service.

No be only money them they take do business ooo.

So I saw this video trending on social media, it’s an analogy that this life has three currencies and it totally make sense to me.

Time ------
Knowledge ----------
Money.........

The summary is that you use any of the currencies you have to acquire the one you don’t have.

Let's break it down.

*TIME*

Do you have time?

Depending on who the question is directed to right- you might stop reading this if your answer is NO!

I will be referring the question to my people, the civil servants, that, I am sure your answer will be Yes at least for 60% of the commission.

During the pandemic, a lot of lessons was learnt both in the public and private sector.

A lot of people from the private sector lost their job and after the lockdown they couldn’t regain their seat.

Why?

If I could do without you for a whole year and run my company perfectly it means I am actually wasting my money paying you.

In the public sector just about 30% of the whole work force was doing the job and nothing happens. So simply put 70% of civil servant have Time!

We are making a headway, established fact, we have one of the 3 currencies, Time.

*Money*

This is going to be short, shebi na only civil servant they read this abi?

I have earlier asked those who have no time, to stop reading.

Another known fact, we no get money! Our grade of we no get money don cross border line.

person wey no get money better pass us because no be say we no only no get money, we still dey owe join body.

Money wey we dey owe done even pass our accrued pension plus small thing from NHF.

So we get TIME but we no get MONEY

*Knowledge*

As a civil servant I can say we all have this third currency,
we are all good to go, and we got two currency out of the three.

Like the video said we use what we have to secure what we don’t have.

We use Time and Knowledge to secure money which appear to be what we all lack.

I am guessing you are running a quick scan on yourself,

what knowledge do I have that people will pay me for?

Who will pay me for this common knowledge?

I don’t even know anybody?

I wish I have connection and so many thoughts.

Well the most important question that should run your mind now should be HOW?

You already have the tools but you need to how to use the tools.

How do you make use of your knowledge and time to acquire Money.

The TIME is what you have in abundance, you have office hours instead of using it for gossips or watching movies or discussing football news, you can help yourself by packaging your knowledge and exchange it for money.

Let say you want to believe you don’t have any sellable knowledge then you should use the time you have to acquire one.
If your office hours is occupied with so many work on your table.

4pm -7pm are also hours available to acquire some skills that could fetch you money.

My wife authored some nursery books, 4 books as at then, she has about 7 now.

As at then the cost of printing those books was above N1.2M.

My colleagues will laugh at me when they hear me negotiating with the printer back then, once they hear me say Salafy on the phone they just start laughing, I am a badass negotiator and Salafy is also a king.

If you ask the king to subsidize for you, after 30 minutes of talking, he will then say ok, instead of paying N1.3m just pay N1.295m, and I will be like haaaaa Salafy (leyin gbogbo oro wakati kan) after one hour talk!

So after some years I eventually took myself to learn graphics design and printing inside Murg Plaza opposite UTC that’s where the bulk of printing work in Abuja is done.
I negotiated with the guy and we eventually agreed for just N20,000 for 3months.

The interesting thing is I did make that N20,000 that same month I started. And since then I have made millions from that N20,000.

In my office I do customize polo shirts, round neck and v-neck for my colleagues, I print beautiful frames for people,

I help some companies with their printing, schools and politicians, occasions souvenirs and so on.

You don’t have to go home after closing hours, 4pm – 7pm plus weekends is enough time to learn a skill that will improve your standard of leaving.

If you believe you don’t have any knowledge you can sell, you can explore additional knowledge or skills.

I do believe you do have something to sell,

It's just that you are underestimating yourself. It’s not necessarily a big skill,

In fact most skills you will make money from are the simple skills, not the big techy stuff,

I just thought of organising a scrabble class for age 7-12yrs,

teach them how to play scrabble and don’t be surprised the number of parents that will register their kids.

You can also organise a class for senior citizens 60 and above on how to use facebook,

you will be surprised how many of us will register our parents and grand parents for the class.

It is a growing concern for most working class, whose parents are aged but they are literate,

teaching them the use of social media might be a solution to their boredom.

I have a Yoruba class that I run online Akomolede Yoruba,

another growing concern for Nigerians in diaspora, or people leaving away from their home town,

one of our parents ask if we also offer ebira, she said a colleague of hers also wants to enrol her kids to learn her mother tongue.

That Nupe that you speak is a knowledge that you can as well sell to acquire the money you lack.

You can also offer to teach English to Chinese, Koreans and some other nationals who are interested.

Just as I am typing this I just conceived another idea to start Nigeria Language classes instead of declining peoples offer.

I have people from virtually all the tribes in Nigeria,

I already have a language syllabus courtesy of my wife,

I am already running an online schools so I can train whosoever I decide to employ for the classes (any language).

Recruitment is ongoing immediately for all Nigerian Language teachers.

if you are interested comment the language you are interested to take and we will document it. Lol

tiptatipa you must convert your knowledge to money.

Business cap on…….

We lend......
We sell.......

168 wonderful people already registered for the FREE webinar on how to make N300k profit monthly driving your car.

I think you should do so before the FREE changes to figures!

Come to think of it, this training is the first of its kind, as far as I have made research no individual with a vast practical knowledge has ever organised a FREE webinar on this subject.

I am quite excited to be the number 1 person to have developed a full blown course on the subject.

Like how my brain works, I will always question anything that is tagged free, why would anyone dedicate his time, energy and money for FREE, I mean FREE!!! Common there is no free lunch in free town, there has to be a catch.

So what’s the free catch to this? Any way I am not going to tell you “I love you that much! or tell you “I just want you to gain financial freedom”.

What I will tell you is to stay focused on what you stand gaining from this webinar. I have trailed that path so well and from experience I will tell you it always ends with regrets.

Ohhh the regrets is a good one, a situation when you are now on the right track but still regretting why did you stay this long to get on the track.

If I had not gotten on track I wouldn’t have realised what and how many opportunites I have let slide, life changing opportunities.

Well this is one that can also change your life for the better and here is why I said so

1. I am a mindset coach and in this webinar a third of it will be majorly on how your mindset will be tailored towards making money.

2. The second part will be on the operation of Bolt, everything from a-z , the bolt app, signing up, registration, starting/ending a ride, the app interface, earnings and commission, classes of cars, account suspension, and so on

3. Professionalism: this section is so rich that you can relate it with so many other businesses you do, one of the reason why I excel so well as a bolt driver is my ability to cross relate my life experiences to the work.

What are you waiting for?

The child who raises his hands is the one who gets to be carried by his mum (Yoruba adage)

So many a time you wonder why the pattern of progress favours a particular set of people, you wonder why does he get to be chosen for another job opportunity when he already has a job, you feel like you need it more than he does.

You have been doing the same thing for ages and someone who just came is doing better than you,

sometimes you even have better resources (car) than him and yet people prefer to (ride) do business with him.

The only reason why you will recommend someone that has no family ties with you, someone you stand benefiting nothing from, to any one is because the person does what he does better than others, professionally.

In fact professionalism is the key word, even if you are good at what you do but lacks professionalism you will get people to patronize you provided you are the best and no other person can do the same but recommending you will be difficult.

You do hear people say that mechanic is good but he can’t be trusted. When there is a ‘’but’’ to you,
your professionalism is in question.

People give out their hands to people whose hands are up already, not just (omo to ba gbepa ni iya re ngbe) children but adults alike.

We all practice this adage in various aspect of our lives, spouse selection, who to give our charity to, who to deal with, who to invest with who to partner with and so on.

If you find your self in a position where you have to ask yourself why not me? I am guessing you need to up your game, you need to go professional.

If you are a tailor and you feel you are not making sales because there are so many tailors around, the profession is saturated ohhhh my dear you are so wrong!

I so much like saturated market because that where the money is.

During lock down a lot of people lost their jobs and people from neighbouring states flocked into Abuja, and there were so many bolt drivers, there were all sorts of drivers.

Every corner on every street in Abuja you will find 2-3 corolla parked waiting for requests.

A lot of drivers were complaining about patronage but that was when I was making money like mad.

I was getting more off line trips like never before,

virtually every one that booked my ride wants to keep me, riders will keep me waiting and pay for my service rather than book another ride, my clients will reschedule their appointment just because I am not available at the hour.

My clients will rather wait and pay more with me rather than booking a random ride.

If you book a random ride and you are lucky to have me as your driver, you will want to complete a whole week schedule just to have me drive you around.

The level of my Professionalism is called ‘’I got you covered’’ I solve peoples problem, not necessarily by myself. Few calls and I have you covered.

What you need to know to be a professional driver and earn more than your compatriot is part of what I will be discussing if you join my FREE webinar on the 12th of February, 2022.

It is time for you to raise your hands and let me give you a lift. Click the link and I will see you in the inside.

Continuation……..
We will all become thieves if……………

We have been pushed to the wall, we believe we do not have any option, we have to survive and the only way out our relaxed brain is thinking is to become thieves.

Unfortunately even after deciding to be a thief, there is nothing to steal, it’s not like the money is even scattered all around to steal, and you can’t even get access to anything until you are at the helm of affairs that’s only if the perceived assumption that people on the top embezzle, or syphoned funds meant for the public.

The reality we see every day is that after few month of retirement, everything changes, not for better, when they say I am a retiree it’s another word for poverty.

We have come to term with that, if an elderly one comes to you for a transaction and he says I am a retiree, what he is saying is I am poor or so I don’t have anything to give you .

So if truly the top is juicy as we imagined how come in few months after retirement what we hear is sickness, vital organ failure, hypertension, frustration and sometimes depression.

We need to stop giving ourselves false hope, that things will get better if we rise up the cadre, having an office to yourself and giving directives have nothing to do with living a better life.

Most times the man you see in Agbada with correct starch in a very attractive office space, chilling AC, is a complete different man in his family house.

In their family they have been giving different names, KOKOGUN,AKAGON, SUPERGLUE, KOWULO, PACKAGING-

he is stingy,he is irresponsible, na just big car and nice Agbada, some believe he has the money just because of the office he holds, while some believe he is poor but he packages like a rich man.

If you don’t see the service as a service you will end up being disappointed. You will end up being a thief only in mind without having anything in your hand.

Some will inarguably be able to amass wealth for themselves as a result of their offices, those few are the super smart ones who have positioned themselves far ahead before they got there,

they already have an avenue to do that, in fact you can’t prove they embezzled. May be if they are not that smart you might hold them for abuse of office.

This, ‘’it will soon be my turn’’ mind set is you killing your potential, when you go to office everyday your mind keeps eliminating every officer ahead of you,

when people ahead of you leave instead of you thinking of how you can grow too, you will be counting your fingers, you will be counting how old is he, how long has he stayed in service, is that his real age?

I have to petition is age, how can he finish primary school in 1940 and still be in service, it becomes worst when you start wishing your colleague death just because the pyramid will only take one person.

Abi we can only have one Perm. Sec. in a Ministry, and that is how steep the pyramid is at the top.

Back in the days when I was working with Kwara state teaching service commission, I stumbled on the pay slip of a level 16 officer, the officer has just a year to retirement and his salary back then was N66,000.

I couldn’t stop thinking, is this what I am in for, my salary was just N17,000 as level 8 officer, I was like “would I spend 35 years just start earning N66,000?” Nah! That’s not going to happen, I know I have to take a step further.

About a year later I got a job with a pharmaceutical company as a sales representative, I was making far more than what the level 16 officer was earning monthly,

What am I trying to say? you have to want something by conceiving an idea, make a plan on how to get what you conceive and then take action to execute.

I do not have a problem with you being where you are, if you are comfortable with it but when you keep complaining about your situation without making effort to change it is where I have problem.

A lot of us keep complaining and giving ourselves false hope but we do not want to take action to change our situation for the better.

Civil service yesterday is not the same as today, the only thing some of our fathers are managing with is what they got from the service,

some were fortunate to have a house in Gwarimpa at least they don’t pay rent, some even earn from renting out the BQ.

My brother, even for Koton Karfi we no get BQ, all we think of while in service is how to survive, we can barely feed ourselves, and it is that bad.

Buy,sew or borrow………… we all need the business cap on our head.

Talk to you soon…………

It was around 10am and I have already made N8, 000 from early hour trips, I just completed a trip around skymemorial plaza, just beside PDP secretariat Wadata plaza, Wuse Zone 5,

gban gban, gban gban, gban gban another trip came in and I saw Lafia just before accepting the rides, you only have 20secs to accept or decline.

I accepted the ride but before I headed to the pickup I quickly opened my rider app to have an idea what the bolt app will charge so I saw it was N19, 800 or there about.

I wasn’t sure if it was Lafia in Nasarawa state or Lafia close in Garki Area 8, so I just drove straight to the pick up location, it was just a minute or two minutes’ drive.

I chatted with the Rider from the bolt app and in a minute or two he was with me. So I confirmed the destination and it was Lafia in Nasarawa State, I have to renegotiate the prize.

I said Lafia? He said yes can you take us? Well if the prize is right I will, so he asked how much will I charge? I said N50,000 so he pleaded for N40,000 I said ok provided they won’t keep me for long otherwise I will have to charged them per hour for the waiting period.

We got to Lafia around 1pm and I waited till around 7:30pm before we headed back to Abuja, we arrived Abuja before 10pm and it was time for my payment so I billed him N55,000.

I charged N15,000 for waiting, eventually he paid N52,500. A total of N58,250 plus a thousand naira tip he gave me for lunch that’s a grand total of N59,250 in just one day.

Why you should start with a low-risk business.

Businesses crumble faster than how ice cream melt in a hot day in Nigeria. Small scale business are like children they depend on us to grow, we care for them with much love and that's how they survive.

Same with small scale businesses you need to water it, nurture it and monitor it's progress. Today you want to help a widow with two kids and you gave her ₦50,000 to start a small business and you think you have empowered her to be independent.
It will only take a miracle to still have a dime after 2months.

The only condition is if you also provide food for her for that period otherwise the profit can't suffice to cater for her and the kids so they will need to keep spending part of the capital to survive.

To help her just give her food and guide her to a low risk business, if she require a soft skill, bless her with one.

Business for me is a risk, but not doing it is a greater risk. The risk is two-sided and do not fool yourself for there is no third side. Loss or gain. A zero return on investment is a loss.

To determine the true state of your investment, you should quantify the time, energy, and expertise you invested.

To be sincere with you, I do not believe there is a total loss in business. I will agree more with the word "unsuccessful." It sounds more like it, and it is only a measure of your expected outcome.

For example, my brother invested in fish farming last year. An estimated sum of N2m was spent from day 1 to point of harvest.

About 10,000 fish were put in the ponds. During the harvest, the total estimated amount of fish harvested was 2000.

After the sale, all we realized was about N1.7m or N1.8m. If he decided to quit the business, it could be said to be a loss, but on the contrary, he realized it wasn’t a loss for he has gained much more knowledge and practical experience,
which is way more than the N200k shortfall from the capital.

The knowledge and experience he has gained could be put into a report or ebook, and he could make twice the money –

in fact, if he refuses to write, I will add it to my ebook collection. How 8000 fish disappeared from my pond despite professional advice? "smiling" and making money now!!

If only he quits, he would be losing the knowledge, the time and experience, but he is using it to reinvest and I trust he is smiling as we speak.
Back to why you should start a low-risk business: don’t get confused with the example above; fish farming is not a low-risk business. So what is a low-risk business?

Definition
A low-risk business is one that requires zero capital, or little capital, or a very slim probability of losing part or all of the capital.
For a better understanding, I will be giving one example from each definition.

ZERO CAPITAL
Starting a business with zero capital mostly involves you selling a skill set or information, for example.

Consulting: You can go into consulting if you have experience in a specific subject of study, industry, or company, as well as a solid track record to show potential clients.

Track record doesn't always have to be you running a successful firm like theirs; it might simply indicate that you've worked or have relatable experience that accomplishes what you claim to be capable of and that you can demonstrate and prove you're up to the task.

Tutoring: People are increasingly in need of tutoring services, whether online or offline.
If you work as a teacher in a school, you may give parents home-tutoring courses.
You could sell an online course if you have a skill that many people would pay a lot of money for.

Driving on Bolt: If you already have a car or have someone to partner with, you can register with any of the e-hailing platforms and start earning right away. You can make as much as 300k a month doing this. I've got you covered.

Renting out part of your apartment: you might want to take a tenant to your BQ instead of letting it lie dusty. If you don’t have one, you can as well seek information about vacant apartments in your neighbourhood, help get the information to someone who needs the apartment, and get a 5–10% commission on the paid amount.

Chef: if you really enjoy cooking and you are blessed with a delicious meal delivery, you can start by showcasing each meal you prepare at home right in your kitchen, enlightening people about its recipe and method of preparation.

Inform your audience about the various ways to prepare and serve the meal, the different flavors you can create using different ingredients, the health benefits of each ingredient, and alternative ingredients for people who are allergic or trying to gain or lose weight.

Don’t worry about giving out your recipe; you need to give your all so people know you, like you, and trust you. When it comes to what people consume (edibles), they have to trust you enough to eat what you cook.

Your targets are not those who have the time to put the knowledge you dish out into practice, your targets are those who do not have the time to do so. You might also want to get certified by an international body if you wish to pursue this as a career.

Nutritionist:
Many people are continually urged by their doctors to adjust their diets for a variety of health concerns. Others, on the other hand, are trying everything they can to alter their diets with little success in order to lose weight.

As a nutritionist, you might provide this service to clients who are on a diet and charge a fee before creating each meal plan. You could also charge more if you help them stick to their diet plans.

I personally know someone who studied mass communication. She chose this niche and she is doing very well. She bought a car worth N8 million a few months back. It’s not just a low-risk business but a highly profitable one.

To be continued........

Why your child need to be first in class.

What your results do to you over time can give you courage and confidence or lower your self-esteem. We owe it to our children to make them the best. Not necessarily the overall best, but we should help them to become the best in something.

Naturally, some of our kids are brilliant and intelligent. They are always at the top of their class. Sometimes you could be lucky to have all of them be the best in their classes, but obviously we can’t all say our kids are the best
– so who’s kids take 2nd – last?

I know that results affect people for sure, because I have had reason to define myself just by the results I get. It might not be entirely a true definition of who I am,

but the fact that I caged myself just because of those results made me realize we need to help our kids get the result that will build their self-esteem rather than continuously getting a result that will cage them in the belief that their result is a reflection of who they are.

Sometime ago, after my NYSC, I got two PlayStation 2 for commercial purposes from what I was able to save from my alawee, I would have saved more if not for my frequent visits to Lekan Hassan (Lokoiba) in Warri and Rabiu Sanusi in Awka. I was serving in Nnewi South, Ezinifite, in Anambra State.

It was a remote area with no social amenities, a cinema, or an eatery. I was able to save my alawee because there was no place to spend it.

I never knew it was a blessing to serve in remote areas until one weekend I visited Rabiu Sanusi. He was serving in Awka, the state capital. After that, it became a routine and my savings started to reduce until it got to zero.

That’s a story for another day.

So I kept the two PS2 in the SUB of Unilorin.
The SUG president was a friend, and I used to partake in campus politics too. A guy was managing the stand for me and I was making N28,000 monthly from it then. That was more than my monthly salary as a level 8 officer with Kwara State Teaching Service Commission.

The next year came and there was a change in government, so we had to ballot for the available space. So the ballot day came. There were 8 slots with 10 contestants. I represented myself and a friend.

So there are 8 (YES) and 2 (NO), I am to pick twice, one for myself and the other for the friend I represent, I was almost certain that I would pick at least one (YES). If not two, the probability was high enough that you would want to bet on me picking a yes.

Habba! It’s like Chelsea playing Arsenal in the days of Didier Drogba or Jose Mourinho as coach. It was an unbelievable turn of events. Omo, all una ticket cut ooooo, 8 (YES), 2 (NO) and I picked the two (NO). How? Abi na juju? Gaskia, I still don't understand how that is possible.

So after that event, the result shaped my thoughts and I became caged in the belief that gambling, lot drawing, voting, and anything like that is not for me.

Even if you ask me to bet on Manchester City winning vs. Edo United (BALOO), I will just walk away. Maybe, I said, maybe, if it is Manchester United, I might bet on Kwara United winning. Lol.

I graduated with a second class lower, and a whole lot of my life hasn’t been the best, except for my primary school (FSLC) where I was the first of the 300 plus pupils that partook.

I have caged myself to be just an average person. I know better now that what you consume is a product of what you give out.

Christiano Ronaldo became the best as a result of deliberate effort, continued training, focus, and determination.

As for Lionel Messi, he is a pure talent and doesn’t need to undergo all that Ronaldo did to be the best.

That's a great lesson for us parents to learn. The fact that your kid is not the best in his/her class doesn’t mean he can’t be.

The Ronaldo model can work for our kids too.
If you can’t make him the best in his class, you can at least make him the best in one or two subjects.

That will go a long way toward building his self-esteem. He will be comfortable speaking in front of his peers.

If you had been paying attention to his results, you would have noticed why he got 98% as opposed to 100%.

If he can get 98%, there is nothing stopping him from getting 100% in that particular subject he loves. Give him a hand and he will make up the remaining 2%.

If you don’t have the time to take him through the 2%, you can get him a lesson teacher, but you have to spare a little time to find out what the lesson teacher is supposed to do.

When you employ a lesson teacher, give him a target. That way, you can measure progress.

Don’t just pay-------- Pay attention!!!!
