NEW TAX IN NIGERIA (STARTING JANUARY 2026)

Simple explanation for everybody no grammar

Let me break it down like small pikin.

WHAT IS TAX?
Tax simply means:Government saying If you make money, small small help us with some.

❌ It is NOT:
Government stealing your money
Government collecting your savings
Government entering your bank to carry money

IF YOU ARE JUST A NORMAL PERSON for example Salary earner, trader, student, hustler.

If you don’t make much money, government will not tax you.
If you earn ₦800,000 or less in one year, YOU PAY ZERO TAX.

Example:
If you sell pure water, pepper, clothes, or you’re a student you are safe.

THEY WILL TAX MY BANK ACCOUNT ❌❌❌

THIS IS A BIG LIE.

Government CANNOT:
Take money from your bank
Tax your savings
Tax money people send you

They only tax income (money you work for).

Bank account is not taxable. Income is.

WHY THEY ARE ASKING FOR TIN

TIN means Tax Identification Number.

TIN is Your name tag, not your ATM pin.

Banks will ask for it so government can:
Know who is earning money
Stop rich people from hiding

TIN does not allow them to take your money.

IF YOU HAVE A SMALL BUSINESS like Business name / shop / online sales

Government looks at profit, not your capital.
Example: You sell goods for ₦500,000
You spend ₦450,000 on goods, rent, fuel, transport.

Your profit is ₦50,000
That small money is what tax looks at

If profit is small: You pay little or nothing.

They don’t tax stress. They tax profit.

IF YOU ARE A BIG BUSINESS / BIG EARNER

Yes — you will pay more tax.
And that is fair.

Reason be that those who have more should help more.

IF YOU COLLECT SALARY (PAYE)

If your company already deducts tax:
✔ nothing new
✔ no extra tax
✔ no double payment

You are already doing the right thing.

ONLINE WORKERS & SIDE HUSTLES

If you make money:
•online
•from abroad
•side hustle

You should declare it.

But know this that small earners are protected. nobody taxes your bank balance

THE TRUTH is, this new tax is not about punishing poor people.
It is about making rich people pay utheir fair share.

There are good PR moments and bad ones, and this Paystack matter right now is a very bad one even after the CEO is fired.

Equally weird saying a CEO is fired… so as an owner of Paystack, what are my co-competitors doing about this?

If SeerBit Monnify HQ, or Interswitch Kft and many others were mine, I’d be everywhere right now. Most people don’t even know what Paystack really does, so aggressive marketing would hit immediately.

Grant Cardone already said it: the market is brutal and will punish anyone who refuses to take action. They definitely saw the tweets and ignored them.

I get messages like this a lot
I use huge amounts and run ads, and yet I see no results. I just keep spending big amounts on ads.

But why exactly would you spend big amounts on Facebook ads when A/B testing was created for a reason? Imagine these two ads below, if a huge amount was used to run the second one, think of the kind of money that would be wasted, leaving you disappointed.

Still confused between Facebook Profile and Page? 🤔

When I say we need to open a page to run ads for you, here’s why:

- A Facebook profile only allows basic ad objectives mostly likes and engagement.
- With a page, you can run ads for WhatsApp messages, conversations, calls, website traffic, and more.

Even if your profile is on professional mode and allows more than 5,000 friends, it still comes with limits unlike a Page that’s built for growth and full ad access.

So if you’re serious about reaching more people and converting views to real results, a page isn’t optional it’s essential.

After this couple, the Kelvin Onovo comes next for me in this space.

There’s just something about the way they make marriage feel different, not the usual stories we hear. Even though the negative always outshines the positive, In fact, that old narrative of “men are polygamous in nature” started crawling back into its hole.

They preach loving your wife, leaving outside distractions, and building together. I’m honestly so glad for this new wave. If anyone wants to argue about marriage, I’ll simply refer them to either of these two couples.

To I I MOSES, I may not have carried a baby before, so I can’t claim to fully understand the feeling, but I truly pray that God comforts you. Losing a child twice is not something anyone is ever prepared for.

As Rev21:4 says, may God wipe every tear from your eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

YOU POST EVERYDAY BUT NOBOBY BUYS.

Let’s be honest, it is not that your product is bad o
Sometimes, it is just the way you talk about it

Most business owners talk about themselves, and not to their customers. (Read again)

You write things like🔹
We sell body cream. Come and buy.
Come and buy your clothes.
Order your wig now.
Buy your bag.

Truth is, Nobody wants to feel pressured.

Imagine you are walking through the market, just looking around,
and someone starts name calling, even names that’s not your own “Fine gal! Fine boy! Come and buy

At some point me and my roommate won’t ever near Ogige market in Nsukka, with loosed hair 😂 we fit beat person because of this thing

Now. That’s the same thing that happens online when your post sounds like everyday come and buy

Instead, talk like someone who understands what the customer is feeling.

Let your post sound like you are helping, not chasing. Sell your customers pain point.

Example:
❌ We sell body cream.
❌ Buy your dress.
❌ Come and buy your hair.
✅ You have dry skin? Have you tried this new body cream.
✅ Need a fine outfit for the weekend? Check this one out.
✅ Your old wig looking rough, Look at this new one. Very easy to wear.

See the difference?

You reminded the person what is really disturbing them,
then offered the solution in a calm, friendly way.

That is how people stop scrolling and start paying attention.
They do not just see a product, they see themselves.

So next time before you post, ask yourself,
Am I shouting at them or speaking to them?
