POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IN ABAYOM-IKOM AS CYRIL AKONG RETURNS TO PDP
Pledges Total Victory, Promises All Needed Assistance
As Fred Osim, Joseph Eyo, PDP National & State Officers Witness Declaration
The political landscape of Ikom Local Government Area was shaken to its foundation yesterday as the biggest political elephant in Abayom, Chief Cyril Akong, staged a triumphant return to his natural home, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It was not a quiet return. It was a declaration of war against opposition and a pledge of total victory for the PDP from top to bottom.
The billionaire businessman, grassroots mobilizer and political colossus made the historic declaration in his country home in Abayom-Ikom when the full PDP hierarchy paid him a high-powered courtesy visit.
Present to receive him back home were the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Cross River Central, John Ifere, the Ikom/Boki House of Representatives Candidate, Hon. Pius Abang AB JoJo Amani, and the Ikom State House of Assembly Candidate, Hon. Sandy Otum, alongside PDP National and State Officers.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of supporters, elders, women and youths;
"I have come back home. PDP is my family, PDP is our tradition in Abayom. Today, I reaffirm my total commitment to this party from top to bottom - from President to Senate, to House of Representatives and to House of Assembly. I will provide all needed assistance, all logistics, all support to ensure PDP wins convincingly. There is no more opposition in Abayom," Akong declared.
He noted that his political structure across Ikom and beyond has been fully reactivated for the PDP and will commence immediate house-to-house mobilization.
The atmosphere went into wild jubilation when elder statesman and political father of the Central, Rt. Hon. Fred Osim spoke. Osim, who could not hide his joy, described Cyril Akong's return as the return of victory itself.
"Today is a great day for us. Cyril Akong is not just a man, he is an institution. His return means victory is sealed. When the biggest elephant moves, the forest shakes. Abayom has spoken, Ikom has spoken," Osim said.
"We have been waiting for this day. With Cyril Akong back, what was broken is now fully mended. The PDP is now one solid family ready for total victory," Eyo affirmed.
Responding on behalf of the candidates, Central Senatorial hopeful John Ifere described Akong's return as divine and strategic, assuring him that the PDP will not disappoint the people.
With this major realignment, political pundits in Cross River State say the PDP has effectively reclaimed its stronghold in Abayom-Ikom, with the expected ripple effect across Ikom, Boki and the entire Central Senatorial District.
