I will like to tell you a story about myself. I promise to make it short.
Back then in primary school, I often claimed that I knew how to play football. I couldn’t meet up with some of my mates when it comes to playing football. We moved onto secondary school. Whenever we wanted to play, those who knew me from primary school will be shouting, “He doesn’t know how to play.” Whenever I am lucky enough to play any mistake am out.An idea came to me, I went closer to my mates (those who knew me back in primary school) sometimes I’ll talk to them about playing football but that didn’t work. Then I decided to buy my own ball.
I bought my own ball and brought it to school. It worked out. Truth must be told, “no matter how I played, nobody dare removed me.” We all know the rules then, the owner of the ball must play. In order to be on a safe side whenever I got the ball, I tried to do my best. Even though I wasn’t among the class team, at least I left the group if “they can’t play.”
But, deep down I knew within myself that I don’t know how to play football. When our games master selected the students to represent our school team in the national competition, I wasn’t selected. I felt bad and complained to the games master. He told me to my face “you don’t know how to play football. The earlier you realize it, the better for you.”
So, what am I trying to point out? You’ll keep on humiliating yourself, if you keep lying to yourself. In pursuit of success, honesty is your most valuable ally. Embrace your true self, face challenges head-on, and be open to the wisdom of others. By refusing to lie to yourself, you pave the way for a future defined by authenticity, progress and genuine achievement.
