Akure marks the 2026 Ogun Festival today, Monday, September 7.

His Imperial Majesty, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, is expected to perform the traditional rites, with High Chief Ajana Olalusi Benjamin receiving Kabiesi at Ijomu Junction.

Ogun rites from other quarters are also expected to continue subsequently.

Dog owners have been advised to keep their dogs indoors for the next three days as part of safety precautions during the festival period.
