PUBLIC STATEMENT
By Chief Sunny Anyanwu (UGWUMBA), DSP (Rtd)

I, DSP Sunny Anyanwu (Rtd), have decided to present a Special Award for the Military Officer of the Year 2025.

Out of my modest ₦49,000 monthly pension, I have chosen to donate ₦5,000 to the Naval Officer who had an open and courageous confrontation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

That officer demonstrated exceptional professionalism, composure, and discipline. Qualities that reflect the best traditions of the Nigerian Navy and remind us of the high standards of British-trained officers.

I also humbly advise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to honor this young officer with the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) award in recognition of his exemplary service and patriotism.

His official bank details should be forwarded through his department for the symbolic presentation.

This act is not just a gesture. It is a statement. For 35 years, I endured similar challenges in service and now live on a ₦49,000 pension. Yet, I remain proud to stand for truth, courage, and integrity in uniform.

I congratulate this young officer, a future General, and salute all men and women who continue to serve Nigeria with honor.

Signed:
Chief Sunny Anyanwu (UGWUMBA)

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to tender an unreserved apology to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and the soldier who allegedly stopped him from entering a restricted area.

In a statement posted on his page on Tuesday, Buratai condemned Wike’s remarks against the uniformed officer, describing them as “a direct threat to national security and the integrity of Nigeria’s institutions.”

He said, “Insulting a uniformed soldier in public is a serious act of indiscipline that undermines the chain of command, weakens the authority of the Commander-in-Chief, and dampens the morale of security personnel.”

Buratai warned that the incident should not be treated as a political matter, but as a breach of national order and respect for the military.

He urged Wike to issue a public apology to President Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and the officer involved, emphasizing that “the honour and discipline of our Armed Forces must be protected above all else.”.

This is Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, a man who once sat at the peak of power, wealth, and influence in Nigeria. He served as the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa and Taraba States) in 1983, and years later, rose to become the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) between 2012 and 2014.

Beyond politics, he was a towering figure in Nigeria’s business landscape — the former CEO of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), a seasoned international businessman, and the Chairman of the African Business Roundtable. He dined with kings, presidents, and captains of industries across Africa and beyond.

But today, this is his reality — frail, aged, and facing the inevitable struggles of old age and health.

This is the message life is showing us:
Everything fades.
Power fades.
Position fades.
Wealth fades.
Beauty fades.
Strength fades.
All that remains are your deeds, your character, and the way you treated others.

No human being can escape the cycle of life. It is humbling. It is scary. It is a reminder.

So while you still have breath and strength:

Live humbly.

Love sincerely.

Do good without expecting anything.

Fear God.

Remember that no one leaves this world with anything.

May God grant us a graceful old age, sound health, and a peaceful end. Amen.

Nigeria Customs’ Akpevwe Ogboru Completes 72-Day Solo Nigeria–Belgium–Nigeria Journey
..Returns to Heroic Welcome at Seme Border

Assistant Comptroller of Customs Akpevwe Ogboru, a trailblazing officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, has finally returned home after completing an extraordinary 72-day motorbike journey from Nigeria to Belgium and back.

Ogboru, who embarked on the adventurous trip on 1, August 2025, returned on Saturday, 11 October 2025, and was warmly received at the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post by senior officers, including the host Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Wale Adenuga, alongside other Area Controllers within Zone A.

Beaming with joy and gratitude, AC Ogboru recounted the highs and lows of her journey, which spanned 22 countries across Africa and Europe.

“It’s been 72 days in 22 countries, and I’m happy to be finally back. I just like to stay on the positive side of life. Every time I move, I move with positivity. When challenges came, I prayed about it, sometimes the bike would only have a little issue when it arrived in the country, so I would just be able to do little", she said.

She explained that her journey was inspired by a mission to encourage women to pursue their dreams fearlessly, despite opposition or doubt from others.

“This ride was for women’s inclusivity and the empowerment of the girl-child. It's to encourage all women and to tell them, be strong, don't be discouraged, anything that you set your mind to do, do it, don't allow anybody to discourage you. Because sometimes when you listen to people, you become afraid, and when fear comes in, it cripples you, you are not able to do anything, but when you go and move with that positivity, everything moves on and it's fine", she noted.

Ogboru named her motorcycle Rocky, describing it as a symbol of endurance and resilience. She also expressed hope that her cross-continental experience would strengthen Africa–Europe relations and inspire collaborative growth.
