Dear Salary Earner...making between N50k-N100k a month...

I did it because I don't want to End Up Like My Father

Its was 2011 when my pops left home after a huge argument between him and my mummy.

I felt so heart broken knowing both my parents were in so much pain and had to separate.

what was the core issue of their marital struggle...MONEY

it seemed like my dad who was suppose to be the breadwinner of the family failed at his duties.

I remember my mummy would always throw shades at my pops for not paying my school fees on time, she had to be the one to do it,

Both my parents were on each other's throats because of the financial struggles they had.

They wouldn't even stay in the same room like normal married couples should...

It was so bad that one day I and my little brother were forgotten in school by my parents...

I asked my teacher to call them multiple times,

My mum was like; Daddy will pick you from school

My Dad was like; your mother is coming

I cried o, but dried my tears so my little brother won't see the weakness in my eyes.

After a lot of time wasted, I got picked up by my dad, that was around 6pm... I was still in primary school at that time and it was a bad experience for me so I would still remember.

Later that evening we got home around 7pm guess what happened next...You taught right,

Another brawl between my mummy and daddy and that was it for my dad...

He was like; Don, get me a bottle of water and then he left... never stepping a foot the house again.

But I never hated my dad for it, Nah...In fact, I understood the position he was in, the Nigerian Government and economy wasn't favoring him,

there was hardly any good job opportunity that could pay well enough to take good care of a family.

I only wished that maybe he should have worked a bit harder to seek out opportunities to change his situation....

One thing was sure for me;

"I DON'T WANT TO END UP LIKE MY DAD"

But then again there's my mummy, only her to care for 3 boys, it was definitely hard for her.

For 10+ years I lived off my mum's hard earn money, she did everything for me buy my clothes, pay my bills even recharged my line after she got me a phone...

I got sick of everything, my parents seperation and my mummy's struggles. So, I decided to start looking for ways to earn some money for myself...Did I make any progress?

No, why?... Cause I didn't know how to do anything brick laying, electrician work, mechanic, even to sit down in someone's shop and sell something was a problem...

So, my attention got shifted to the online space were I saw testimonials with proof of people making it big.

Guess what happened next, I put in the work and I made it work for me. it only took me N20,000 to kick start this online business.

It's obvious I borrowed the money from my mum to get started and you know what, I'm glad I did. I really am.
