An Aṣọ-Oke fabricator chose to celebrate an old heritage, a culture, and a remarkable moment in the life of a family — an elderly man and his four wives.
What caught my attention wasn't just the beautiful Aṣọ-Oke… it was the union. ❤️
An elderly Yoruba man in Ilorin, still surrounded by his four wives, together after all these years. The fabricator presented them with beautiful family portraits, dressed in attire made from his fabrics, and showcased their story to the world.
But beyond the fashion and craftsmanship, I couldn't help but pause and ask:
How did this man and these four women maintain this bond for so many years, when even some single-family homes struggle to remain together today?
Perhaps there are lessons here about patience, understanding, sacrifice, commitment, and the willingness to stay through the different seasons of life.
Different generations, different realities. But one thing remains worth discussing:
What really keeps a family together?
What do you see when you look at this family? 👇🏾❤️
