THE BEGGAR AND HIS SON
A Short Moral Story.
A beggar said to his son.
"I've got good news, son... There's a party going on at the home of a wealthy man in the next street. It's a grand party, and a lot of wealthy people are flocking there. Go there and beg for twenty dollars. They are rich so it won't be a problem"
The boy would not miss such an opportunity. So he left for the party immediately. An hour later, he came back empty-handed, and said to his father.
"They won't give me a penny, father. I was wrong for thinking that rich people are generous and kind-hearted. Their kids were laughing at me, and their parents won't spare twenty dollars"
A bit disappointed, the father uttered.
"That's too bad, son. Those people are rich and have much more money than what you're begging them. Why is it so difficult for them to help a poor and innocent little boy? You know what... you should go back again. This time around, tell them your family is poor and starving, and that you need twenty dollars to buy food. They may be willing to help"
The boy could not be more optimistic. He left again for the party, but came back after a while with no money in his hand. He said to his father.
"Father, no one gave me a dime. They ignored me like I was a worthless piece of trash"
The father sighed and said.
"It's alright, son... Guess I'll have to go there myself. Who knows, father might get lucky"
Almost immediately, the father left the house. It wasn't until later that he returned from the party with his pockets full of money. So much money that he was overjoyed.
"Look, son. I was able to make twenty dollars and more! We now have money. Isn't that amazing?"
There was a moment of excitement in the boy's eyes, then he shook his head and looked puzzled. He asked.
"But father, how come they gave you money so easily, but... they never gave me a penny?"
The father smiled and said.
"That's because you kept on asking each person for twenty dollars. But I asked for only two dollars
