The Anambra State Government has brought to light a memo from 2006, allegedly penned by then Chief of Staff Chuks Ileogbunam, which addresses claims of unpaid salaries for workers at the state’s Water Corporation.
In the memo, the government sought the release of ₦15 million each month to ensure these workers were paid and to prevent a planned protest. (State House)
This revelation comes amid a heated dispute between the current state government and former Governor Peter Obi regarding supposed debts and outstanding liabilities from his time in office.
The situation has taken a political turn, with the APC Presidential Campaign Council urging Obi to rethink his 2027 presidential aspirations. Obi has firmly denied these allegations, asserting that he left office without any unpaid salaries, pensions, or gratuities. (Premium Times Nigeria)
