Even when you feel like the system is already designed to give you everything you need, never stop talking to God.

Personally, prayer time is becoming the only time I get to speak great things about my life to remind myself of where I’m going, not just where I am.

Because sometimes, you need to pray about the life you’re believing for before you ever see it.

When I was coming to the UK, I thought life would be easier.

I thought once you get here, get a job and start earning pounds, everything would just fall into place.

But the reality is different.

You can earn in pounds and still struggle. You can work long hours and still have little left after rent, bills, transport and food.

And this is something many Africans don’t realise until they’re already here.

You arrive with big dreams, but then reality hits you.

The UK can give you opportunities, but nobody promised you an easy life.

Before you come, prepare for the reality… not just the dream.

Have some savings if possible. Understand the cost of living. Don’t rush into expensive cars, phones or accommodation just to look like you’re doing well.

And most importantly, come with a plan to grow your income not just a plan to get any job.

Don’t chase every side hustle you see online. Start with your skills, your available time and a real problem people are willing to pay you to solve.

1. Download/open MeriTrade and complete the account registration and KYC. MeriTrade is a Nigerian stockbroking platform, so you’ll need to complete the required verification before you can transact.

2. Make sure your CSCS details are sorted
MeriTrade says shares are held electronically through CSCS. MeriTrade can help with CSCS for new applications.

3. When the IPO opens, go to the Dangote Refinery offer on the approved platform
The official IPO terms currently show ₦525 per share, with a minimum of 10 shares = ₦5,250. The offer is scheduled for September 14 to October 13, 2026.

4. Enter the number of shares you want and pay
For example, 100 shares would be ₦52,500 before any applicable charges. Make sure you understand the total amount required before submitting your application.

5. Wait for allotment and confirmation
Submitting your application does not automatically guarantee that you’ll receive all the shares you requested. After the offer closes, the shares are allotted according to the offer terms, and successful shares are credited to the relevant CSCS account.
