ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION IDENTIFIED AS A KEY STRATEGY FOR PREVENTING INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND MANAGING FLOODING IN BIRNIN KUDU LOCAL GOVT.

The Executive Chairman of Birnin Kudu Local Government, Hon. Bluider Muhammad Uba, has emphasized the importance of environmental sanitation as an effective method of preventing the spread of infectious diseases and mitigating the impact of seasonal flooding. This was disclosed through the Councilor representing Wash Ward, Hon. Haladu Maigari, during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise initiated by the Jigawa State Government.

The exercise focused on cleaning public areas and drainages to eliminate waste and filth. Hon. Haladu Maigari, speaking on behalf of the chairman, stated that the local government has adopted this system as a proactive measure against diseases such as malaria, cholera, and flooding.

He further noted that Birnin Kudu Local Government collaborates with various civil society organizations to promote environmental cleanliness. He commended Hon. Bluider Muhammad Uba for his commitment to the well-being of the people, particularly in maintaining a healthy environment.

The representative from the State Ministry of Environment, Malam Muhammad Suraja, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the sanitation exercise and praised the active participation of the community and supporting organizations.

Additionally, the Head of Sanitation and Safe Water Supply, Alhaji Baffa Abdullahi, alongside Environmental Sanitation Officer Malam Saminu Ubaye, commended the chairman for providing adequate sanitation equipment and for his efforts in sensitizing the public on the importance of cleanliness.

Lastly, security agencies were acknowledged for their strong support in ensuring the success of the sanitation program.
