JUSTICE FOR EBI GADAPHY: A CRY FROM BOMADI

The people of Bomadi are in deep pain, and our cry is one for justice and truth.

We are appealing to the Nigerian military authorities regarding our brother, Ebi Gadaphy. We firmly believe in his innocence regarding the tragic Okuama incident. He is a son of this community, and his continued detention weighs heavily on the hearts of every one of us who knows his character and his commitment to peace.

We are not asking for favors—we are asking for DUE PROCESS. We implore the military leadership to conduct a fair and transparent investigation. If there is no evidence, justice demands his release.

To our fellow citizens and leaders: Please hear our plea. Help us bring our son back home. Let truth prevail.

BREAKING NEWS: Court Orders Release of Okuama Leaders After 21 Months in Detention

In a landmark judgment, the Federal High Court sitting in Warri, Delta State, has ordered the immediate release of Professor Arthur Ekpekpo and other leaders of the Okuama community who have been detained by the Nigerian military for over 21 months.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa while determining a suit filed under the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules. The court held that the continued detention of the community leaders violated their constitutional rights and directed that they be released without further delay.

The development has been welcomed by many Nigerians, human rights advocates, and members of the Okuama community, who have consistently called for justice and due process in the handling of the case.

The detention of the Okuama leaders followed the tragic events that occurred in the community in 2024, which led to heightened security operations in the area. Since then, concerns have been raised by legal practitioners, civil society groups, and community stakeholders over the prolonged detention of those held without trial.

With the court's latest decision, attention now turns to the implementation of the order and the next steps toward peace, reconciliation, and justice for all parties involved.

The Political Masterstroke of the Youth O’Clock Movement and the Strategic Mind of Papems Peter Etolor

Months ago, we had the privilege of accompanying Papems to a meeting in Abuja with Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, a leading gubernatorial figure in Nasarawa State. During the course of that meeting, one of Papems highly respected associates introduced him as a youth leader and strong mobilizer in the Niger Delta, to the admiration of the distinguished Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Funds.

It was from that moment that some of us began encouraging Papems to temporarily leave the United Kingdom, where he is pursuing advanced research in Cybersecurity, and return home to contest for elective office. After much persuasion and pressure from supporters and those he listens to, he eventually answered the call. However, it soon became clear that his plans were far more strategic and far-reaching than many of us had imagined.

Those who know Papems understand that he is a man who always prepares for multiple outcomes. In one of our discussions, he explained how he anticipated the possibility of betrayal from within his own people in Bomadi and advised us not to be discouraged should such a situation arise. This was why many of us were not entirely surprised when the likes of Ebi Kasikoro and Chief Alphonsius Feh, both men he holds in high regard, chose a different path at the directive of a transactional party leadership in Delta State that appeared more comfortable with weaker and less visible candidates than with a candidate who possessed the capacity to mobilize and win elections.

Despite these challenges, Papems remained focused on what he considered a higher priority: contributing to the emergence of His Excellency Waziri Atiku Abubakar as President of Nigeria in 2027, while strengthening and preserving the relationships, goodwill, and networks he has built across the constituency.

What many may not know is that, even after what many considered unfair treatment, Papems refused to be distracted. Having donated a party secretariat and personally funded the purchase of congress forms for local government party leaders, many expected him to deploy his considerable connections to challenge the injustice meted out to him. Instead, he chose restraint and discipline.

Rather than becoming consumed by disappointment, he implemented another aspect of his broader strategy. He returned his focus to completing his Cybersecurity studies and research in the UK, recognizing that personal development, knowledge acquisition, and long-term capacity building remain essential pillars of effective leadership. While others would have been overwhelmed by bitterness and political frustration, he chose growth over grievance and preparation over protest.

This decision reflects a level of political maturity and foresight that many may only come to appreciate with time. When that moment arrives, our people will recognize the vision of this young man who, within a short period, transformed a simple idea into the Youth O’Clock Movement, a brand that has grown into a recognizable force across the Niger Delta.

He has shown his face to his people, his footprints have been felt, and his influence continues to expand. The foundations are being laid today for a future in which Papems Peter Etolor will one day emerge as a political figure too significant to ignore.

Therefore, For many of us who believe in the Youth O’Clock Movement, Papems journey is only just beginning. We believe that destiny, no matter how delayed, has positioned him to contribute significantly to the advancement of the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta at large into national relevance.

Sooner or later, the tables will turn. We remain optimistic about his continued growth, expanding influence, and the realization of the vision that has inspired countless youths

PRESIDENT TINUBU MEETS IJAW, URHOBO, ITSEKIRI LEADERS, MOVES TO RESOLVE WARRI DELINEATION DISPUTE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with leaders of the Ijaw, Urhobo, and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities in a bid to resolve the lingering dispute over the ward and polling unit delineation exercise in the Warri Federal Constituency.

The meeting, which was attended by key stakeholders from the three ethnic groups and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, focused on finding a peaceful and lasting resolution to issues arising from the delineation exercise.

Following the meeting, Governor Oborevwori expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as a decisive intervention in the matter.

"I wish to express my profound gratitude to Mr President for his decisive intervention in resolving the Warri Federal Constituency ward delineation matter," the governor said.

Oborevwori also commended leaders and stakeholders who embraced the terms of settlement reached at the meeting.

"I equally commend all leaders and stakeholders who embraced the terms of settlement, demonstrating their commitment to peace, justice and unity. May God bless and reward your efforts," he stated.

The governor called on all parties to work together in the interest of peace, stability, and development in Delta State.

"This is a time for all of us to come together as one people, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, and work collectively for the peace, stability and progress of our state. United, we can achieve greater development and ensure harmonious coexistence for present and future generations," he said.

He also thanked God for His guidance throughout the process, expressing optimism that the outcome of the meeting would further strengthen unity among the people of the state.

The Warri Federal Constituency delineation exercise has generated intense debate and reactions among stakeholders in recent months, with various groups calling for dialogue and adherence to the rule of law in resolving the dispute
