A video showcasing the newly reconstructed Ohanku Road by Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has sparked widespread reactions on social media. Shared by Kelex Ofoedu, the governor’s media aide, on X, the footage highlighted the transformation of a road that had for decades been among the worst in the state.

Ofoedu noted that the road had been in a state of disrepair for more than 25 years before the current administration intervened. The video post, featuring both before-and-after visuals, clearly illustrated the stark contrast between the road’s former neglected condition and its present state.

The rehabilitation of Ohanku Road is part of a broader infrastructure initiative by Governor Otti. Reports from TVC News confirmed that during a recent commissioning event, several major projects were unveiled, including the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, the Port Harcourt Road in Aba, Ohanku Road itself, and seven other upgraded roads across Abia State. The event also saw representation from the federal government, emphasizing the nationwide significance of these infrastructural improvements.

The video quickly went viral, with many Aba residents expressing gratitude and excitement, describing the completion of the road as relief from a long-standing struggle that had hampered economic activities. One social media user commented, “This is what governance should look like. For decades we suffered on this road. Now Aba feels like a different city.” Some users emphasized proper maintenance to preserve the road, while others warned against politicizing the achievement.

Supporters view the project as more than just road construction it signals a new era of governance and accountability in Abia State. According to Ofoedu, the Ohanku Road project demonstrates Governor Otti’s commitment to tackling years of infrastructural neglect and improving the lives of citizens through effective leadership.

Factional Chairman of the Labour Party in Edo State, Elizabeth Ativie, has intensified her criticism of Peter Obi, accusing him of exposing dictatorial tendencies that have eroded his political standing.

In a report by Daily Trust on 29th September, 2025, Ativie, who is aligned with the faction loyal to Labour Party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, said Obi’s conduct since the 2023 elections has shown that he is more focused on personal ambitions than on strengthening the party.

Speaking against the backdrop of Obi’s controversial role in the Edo governorship primary, she said Nigerians had now witnessed what she described as the “true dictatorial nature” of the former presidential candidate.

“The wind has blown and Nigerians have seen the true dictatorial nature of a would-have-been President of Nigeria,” Ativie declared, pointing to Obi’s disregard for internal agreements and party structures.

She argued that Obi’s decision to abandon collective resolutions, such as the zoning arrangement in Edo State, revealed a pattern of leadership that is self-serving and destabilizing.

According to her, instead of consolidating the goodwill of the more than six million votes he secured during the 2023 general elections, Obi had embarked on what she described as “a desperate search for alliances.”

Ativie noted that his frequent movement from one alliance to another only underscores a lack of political stability and consistency, adding that such behavior has diminished his credibility both within the Labour Party and in Nigeria’s broader political landscape.

She said Obi’s actions had backfired, creating divisions within the party and eroding the confidence of members who had expected him to build on the momentum gained after the last election.

Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike has taken to his official X handle to react after the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi referred to the traditional ruler of Ibadan, Oba Rasheed Ladoja as 'dear brother'. According to his statements which drew widespread attention from the general public, he pointed out that Obi should have called him father.

The former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has come under the spotlight after he referred to the traditional ruler of Ibadan, Olubadan Oba Rasheed Ladoja as his dear brother.

The comment was contained in a congratulatory post to the 44th traditional ruler of Ibadan which he shared on his official X handle on September 26th, 2025. The message drew massive attention after it surfaced online.

Reacting, Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the FCT minister and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike in a fierce reply on his own verified X handle, faulted the statement made by the former Anambra State governor.

According to his statements which had garnered widespread traction across various social media platforms and had generated mixed reactions, he pointed out that Peter Obi should have referred to the Olubadan as his father or elder brother and not just 'brother'.

The comments from Lere Olayinka highlights the need to give great reverence to traditional rulers. However, the manner in which it was communicated indicated that Lere Olayinka was throwing an unnecessary jab at the presidential aspirant.
