JUST IN!!! Peter Obi Reveals Meeting With President Obasanjo Ahead Of Presidential Election 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi on Monday held a meeting with Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
The former Governor of Anambra State who is the flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP) made this known on his Twitter page.
Obi said their discussion was centred on national interest matters.
”I deeply appreciate the opportunity to hold extensive discussions with President Olusegun Obasanjo earlier today on arising national interest matters.
”As usual, the exchanges were forthright and animated.”
Meanwhile, Peter Obi’s supporters, popularly known as Obidients, shut down some major roads in the Central Area, including the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.
The walk by the citizens, in their thousands, caused gridlock at some locations in the nation’s capital.

Why I Flopped At Arsenal – Willian Speaks Out Former Arsenal and Chelsea winger, Willian, has opened up on his struggles at Emirates.
Willian, who currently plays for Fulham, admitted that playing a season behind closed doors ‘without the buzz of the crowd’ had a huge impact on him not performing well at Arsenal.
The Brazil international had joined Arsenal on a free transfer back in 2020 from Chelsea.
He only registered two assists on his debut and left the Gunners after just one year, mutually terminating his contract with Mikel Arteta’s side.
Reflecting on his time at Arsenal, Willian told the Athletic:
“I think I am maybe the only player who has done something like this.
“Any other player in my situation would have stayed until the end of the contract and kept picking up the money. But I’m not like this. Money is not the most important thing in the world. I have to feel good, to feel motivated to go to training. I was not having that there so I decided to leave.’
On his struggles at Arsenal, Willian added: “For most of the season, we were playing without fans (because of the COVID-19 pandemic).
“I didn’t see Arsenal fans. Maybe I needed to feel the buzz of the crowd, that it was something I missed. It was a difficult moment not just for me, but for everyone in the world. To play without fans at a new club is not easy.
“On my last day there, I spoke with the manager Mikel Arteta. I thanked him a lot for what he had done for me, for bringing me to Arsenal. I just wished him all the best.
“He is a good manager and I have great respect for Arsenal. They’re doing well, they have good players. They can achieve good things this season.”

Why I Stayed At Barcelona Instead Of Joining Man United – De Jong Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, has explained that he always wanted to stay at the Blaugrana during the summer transfer window amid Manchester United’s long-term interest in his signature.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News (MEN) in May, Man United quickly identified De Jong as their top target to strengthen their midfield options.
The Netherlands international had worked with Man United manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax and he was keen to reunite with his former coach at Old Trafford.
Man United even agreed to a deal with Barcelona to sign the 25-year-old at the end of June, reaching an agreement over an initial €65million fee.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference ahead of the Netherlands’ clash with Poland on Thursday evening, De Jong opened up on why he did not leave Barcelona.
He said,
“I always wanted to stay at Barcelona this summer, and this is why I always remained calm in the summer. I can’t give too many details away.
“But look, the club has its own ideas and I have my own ideas, too, and sometimes these clash with each other. But at the end of the day, things went okay.”

BREAKING!!! Barcelona Set To Terminate Pique’s Contract Barcelona will terminate Gerard Pique’s contract next summer, if he does not play in 35 percent of matches this season.
The defender has a contract at the Nou Camp until 2024.
But Barca are keen to see him leave because he is the highest earner in the squad, despite becoming a fringe player under boss Xavi.
The Catalan giants are still battling financial difficulties after a summer of heavy spending and need to slash their wage bill.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will have the option of terminating Pique’s contract one year early if he plays in less than 35 percent of games this campaign.

Ndidi Set To Miss Super Eagles Friendly Match With Algeria (See Why) Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is doubtful for Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Algeria as a result of injury.
Ndidi, according to camp sources, copped an injury in training on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old might return to his club in England this week for further treatment on the injury.
Ndidi has struggled to stay fit recently which has limited his appearance for both club and country.
The former KRC Genk player missed the latter part of last season after sustaining an injury, while in action for Leicester City in a UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Stade Rennes in March.
He last featured for the Super Eagles in the second round encounter against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro now have three midfielders: Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi available for the friendlies.

DO YOU AGREE? Arsenal Legend Campbell Reveals Who Is The Best Player In The World Former Arsenal striker, Kevin Campbell, has described Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world, insisting the Portugal international is not responsible for Bruno Fernandes’ dip in form at Old Trafford.
Following his move to Manchester United in 2020 from Sporting CP, Fernandes scored 40 goals and provided 25 assists in his first 80 games for the Red Devils.
But he has had just 26 goal contributions in his last 54 games.which translates to a dip in his form following the arrival of Ronaldo from Juventus in the summer of 2021.

FOOTBALL UPDATE!! Maguire Blames De Gea For His Poor Form Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire is blaming goalkeeper, David De Gea’s lack of communication and his reluctance to come off his line for his (Maguire) poor form at Old Trafford for over the last 12 months.
Maguire has lost his place in Manchester United’s starting XI under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman opting to drop the England international after their loss against Brentford and Brighton.
With Maguire on the bench, the Red Devils have won all four league matches since Ten Hag’s preference to field new signing Lisandro Martinez alongside Raphael Varane.
The 29-year-old defender was heavily criticised by supporters last season, as the Red Devils’ captain bore the brunt of the frustrations of fans who watched their side finish 6th.
But ESPN says Maguire himself feels he has been let down by his team-mates and coaches, who have not played to his strength.
Maguire, according to the report, feels most ‘frustrated’ with goalkeeper De Gea.
The Spain’s number one goalkeeper has also been blamed for his inability to rush off his line and that, coupled with Maguire’s lack of pace, has given opponents plenty of room to play in behind United’s defence.

I Pray You Don’t Succeed In Chelsea – Arsenal Legend Tells Aubameyang Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has said that he hopes Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang struggles at Chelsea.
Ex-Gunners captain Aubameyang returned to London in the summer in a £10.3m deal from Barcelona on transfer deadline day.
The Gabon international made his Chelsea debut in their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.
The former Arsenal captain started Chelsea’s first game under new manager Graham Potter, a 1-1 draw with Red Bull Salzburg.
He scored 92 goals in 163 games during his five-year spell at Arsenal.
Arsenal hero Winterburn told Free Super Tips:
“It didn’t surprise me if I’m honest.
“Listen, there were issues at Arsenal, they let him go, and all of a sudden, he’s moved back to the Premier League.

ITS CONFIRMED! Ndidi To Miss Super Eagles Big Clash With Algeria The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi will play no part in Super Eagles’ friendlies against Algeria.
The Leicester City midfielder sustained an injury in training on Wednesday evening, which has effectively ruled him out of the friendlies.
Ndidi has also left the team’s Marriot Hotel camp in Constantine for England to get further treatment for the injury.
“Just in: midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is injured and out of the game against Algeria. He has left the team’s camp and returned to England. Get well soon Wilfred,”reads the tweet on the NFF’s official Twitter handle.
His injury has limited the options available to head coach Jose Peseiro in midfield.
Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, and new invitee, Raphael Onyedika are the only midfielders left in the squad.

ASUU Strike: NANS Shelves Planned Protests, Urges FG To ‘Fulfil Their Part’ The National Association of Nigerian Students on Wednesday decided to suspend its planned nationwide protests.
This was after the Academic Staff Union of Universities were earlier in the day ordered by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria to resume academic activities.
NANS had previously instructed all of its zones, from Zone A to Zone F, to carry out protests sequentially from September to October 11 in a circular signed by its President-Elect, Usman Barambu.
However, Barambu, in another statement released on Wednesday, directed the structures to stand down all protests, appealing to ASUU to resume work as ordered by the court, saying it “is a progressive way forward.”
The statement read,
“I convey to you solidarity greetings from the leadership of NANS. I am also pleased to congratulate all Nigerian students for standing out during the impasse between ASUU and the Federal Government. Let me also commend the resilient, doggedness and commitment displayed by students throughout the period the strike has lasted for seven months.
I urge you all to consider your actions as a struggle for the emancipation of our educational sector. It’s a win-win situation, victory at last.

“May I also use this opportunity to also urge the Federal Government to fulfill it’s own part of the negotiation as we anticipate a smooth outcome in the negotiating process, in line with the order of the National Industrial Court issuing an order for ASUU (our lecturers) to return to the classrooms. I, hereby, stand down all NANS protest nationwide.
“More also, may I use this singular privilege to appeal to our dear lecturers that the court order is a progressive way forward to achieve a positive results at the negotiation table for it is a win-win for all. We hope and believe ASUU will ace the court ruling in good faith as it affects the future of our dear country.
“Finally, may I appeal to all parents and guardians to assist our students as they prepare to resume for their academic pursuit.”
