OSUN GOVERNORSHIP: ACCORD DISMISSES CHRIS IMUMOLEN'S SUPPORT FOR APC CANDIDATE, BOLA OYEBAMIYI, SAYS THE EXPELLED FORMER 2023 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE HAS NO ELECTORAL VALUE, DOES NOT SPEAK FOR THE PARTY

The national leadership of Accord has dismissed its expelled former 2023 presidential candidate, Chris Imumolen's support for the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiyi for the Osun State governorship election, stating that Imumolen has no electoral value to influence any election in the country.

Accord stated that Imumolen is a political hireling and hustler seeking stomach infrastructure and has no political structure that will favour his preferred candidate in the election.

That Imumolen attended the APC rally in Osogbo where he backed its candidate is a glaring testament that he is not a member of Accord and does not represent the party in any capacity. The purported appellation, "factional chairman" of Accord is not only mischievous, it is a delusion of the grandeur that exists in his fertile imagination as the party has no faction.

Osun State is an Accord stronghold, the people are in one accord with Governor Ademola Adeleke and will overwhelmingly vote for the party on Saturday, August 15.

It is obvious that Accord will secure a landslide victory in this election that will further consolidate the party in the state and improve the delivery of democracy dividends to the people.

It is the fear of its worst electoral defeat that APC resorted to violence, harassment, intimidation and the use of federal Institutions particularly, the police and the EFCC to suppress the Government and people of Osun State including Accord members hoping to compromise the election in favour of the APC.

The good people of Osun remain resolute, firm and steadfast in their support for Accord and their governor.

The party urges INEC to be neutral and conduct a credible election, and also urges security agencies to be impartial and professional in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.

Accord calls on the international community particularly, the European Union Delegation to Nigeria, Africa Union, ECOWAS, United States of America and United Kingdom to strictly monitor the election and sanction anyone found wanting.

The party is set and ready for the governorship election and expresses confidence to win banking on Governor Adeleke's achievements and transformational leadership in the state.

Let the Osun State governorship election set a new national standard in the conduct of elections in Nigeria.

JUDICIAL VICTORY: APPEAL COURT REVERSES DEREGISTRATION OF ADC, ACCORD, AND THREE OTHER PARTIES

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Tuesday 27/07/2026, overturned the judgment of the Federal High Court that ordered the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the ACCORD and three other political parties, restoring their legal status.

In its ruling, the appellate court set aside the earlier decision of the Federal High Court, holding that the order for the deregistration of the affected political parties could not stand. The judgment effectively reinstates the parties, allowing them to continue participating in Nigeria’s democratic process in accordance with the law.

The decision is regarded as a significant development in the country’s political landscape, particularly as political parties intensify preparations for forthcoming elections. It provides relief for the affected parties, whose existence had been threatened by the earlier court ruling.

Among the beneficiaries of the judgment are the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Accord Party, alongside three other political parties that were also affected by the Federal High Court’s deregistration order.

Political observers say the ruling reinforces the importance of due process and judicial oversight in matters affecting the operations and existence of registered political parties in Nigeria.

On Thursday, 16th July 2026, Accord State Chairmen and National Officers paid a solidarity visit to the National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem at the Party's National Secretariat, Area 3, Garki, Abuja, where they passed a vote of confidence in his visionary, purposeful, transformative and progressive leadership which attracted numerous Nigerians to the Party including the His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, Senators, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly members as well as credible candidates for the 2023 general election.

Accord members expressed optimism that the Party will win the 15th August 2026, governorship election in Osun State and urged residents to turn up en masse and vote for the Party, stressing that His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke has performed well in his first term and deserves a second term to consolidate his achievements and take Osun State to the next level. Party leaders also urged Nigerians to identify with Accord and vote for its candidates in the 2027 general election.

National Chairman of the Party, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem commended the State Chairmen and National Officers who paid him a solidarity visit assuring them that he would justify the confidence reposed in him. Barr.
