How We Made It Happen: The Story Behind the Ijebu Muslim Business Summit 2025
When we envisioned the Ijebu Muslim Business Summit 2025, we weren't simply organizing another gathering—we were planting the seeds of a bold, faith-driven economic revolution. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Tajudeen Yusuf, the distinguished President of the Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals. With a perfect blend of scholarship and sincerity, he emphasized the urgency of building value-driven enterprises anchored in fairness, non-interest finance, and social justice. His words grounded the summit in purpose.
Throughout the day, our panel sessions lit up the hall with robust dialogue and practical perspectives. Dr. Jubril Olukayode Lasisi, CEO of Kaylass Innovation and Investment Ltd, opened up conversations around halal innovation and the opportunities that lie in faith-aligned creativity. Mr. Raheem Musa Abiodun, the Managing Director of Hayat Trust Non-Interest Microfinance Bank Ltd, spoke passionately about the potential of Islamic banking to lift communities out of poverty.
We were equally enriched by Alhaji Afui Ettu, the CEO of Folafunmi Pharmacy, who shared his deeply personal experience with integrity and resilience in the retail healthcare sector. Mr. Sherrif Awonuga, the CTO of Autocredit and TTA, helped participants see how emerging tech can serve not just profitability but Islamic compliance. Miss Hajarah Adams, the vibrant founder of HajjyGadgets, represented the youth with grace and brilliance, calling on young Muslims to blend entrepreneurial ambition with upright character.
There were more voices that helped shape the day: Professor Taofiki Ajani Salako, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Hayat Relief Foundation, delivered a compelling segment on the potential synergy between Islamic cooperatives and enterprise platforms. Barrister AbdurRafii Adesina Baruwa, Principal Partner at Hijrah Attorneys, outlined the legal frameworks that support ethical, interest-free entrepreneurship. And Dr. Asif Azeez, CEO of Tubazas Concepts, wrapped the conversation in mentorship, stressing its importance as a tool for legacy-minded business growth.
We were proud to see ethical entrepreneurship rewarded tangibly through the ₦200,000 SME grant disbursement, supporting selected small and medium enterprises that are ready to scale while remaining true to Islamic values.
