This is OUR story, not borrowed.
October 1st, 1960. Midnight at the Race Course, Lagos (now Tafawa Balewa Square).
The British Union Jack was lowered for the last time. And slowly, our Green-White-Green was raised for the first time. A new nation was born. People cried, shouted, prayed.
That flag didn't go up by itself. It was lifted by the sacrifice of our fathers β Herbert Macaulay, Azikiwe, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello and every market woman and farmer who believed Nigeria could stand.
That's what I designed here.
The rough ground? That's the struggles we've survived since 1960.
The hands together on one pole? That's 250 tribes agreeing on one flag.
The flag flying high? That's 66 years of us refusing to fall.
This is not Iwo Jima. This is Lagos, 1960. And Nigeria, 2026
Still lifting. Still standing. Still Nigeria. π³π¬
