The analogy of the 'meat with no flame' is spot on; we often celebrate the product (the meat) but neglect the systems and compliance (the flame) required to make it sustainable. As we see here, foreign aid and patented seeds mean very little if you don't have the trade sovereignty or the testing labs to meet shifting international standards.
