Everyone has that stage where they can point to and say — "this is when my life started". For me, that was when I was 14.
Let me tell you a bit about it. Prior to when my life "started", I was a just like every other normal guy born to a Christian family. Went to church, did church things but I just did it to fulfill all righteousness. No real connection to God.
Dabbled into some things that weren't expected from a church boy. But somehow in the middle of all these things, my big sister (bless her) invited me for a program organized by RCF UNILAG. This was back in 2014.
When I got to the meeting, I remember seeing over 1,000 young adults praying in tongues out loud. I was so shocked. What are you people saying??!😂😩
Eventually I opened my heart and you know the end of the story. I got saved, got baptized and I wanted to know more of God. I wanted to know all there is to know!
My curiosity eventually led me to the bible. So that same month, I took my allowance and went to Agege Market. I got my first bible for #2,800. It's been over a decade but I still have my first bible till date. I keep it as a reminder of where I started and how far God has brought me.
Fast-forward to 2024, the Lord has given us a burden at TiGM to replicate this same experience to young teenagers in Ile-Ife and its environs. We want to expose this people to the light in God's word, just like I was exposed 10 years ago.
That's why we're doing the 1k Bible Project. The best part — it doesn't just end there! We will introduce this young people to the word of God and an intentional Discipleship structure. All these will be done in a bid to help them come into all that the lord will have them be.
This December, join us as we take a step to change the lives of young people — one person at a time!
