Yclef was the most respectable senior colleague I've ever had in school. He nurtures me in every way.
One day, Yclef was cooking beans, he had not enough palm oil to finish cooking his beans, so he asked me for palm oil. I took my palm oil to him to take from it but he pleaded I put it myself because he doesn't like it when people entrust their belongings in his possession, he would rather I put the amount of palm oil I can afford to put in his beans because students likes to mismanage opportunities like that.
Wow, I was amazed by such response from a Nigerian student. My inner man was laughing at myself cus I am not a good manager when it comes to putting palm oil in beans, I like my palm oil much in beans. So, I poured the palm oil into the beans, and I kept on pouring it like I was pouring sugar in my garri.
Suddenly, I heard a shout from Yclef, he screamed my name; Daniel!. I first thought to myself: "abi is something wrong with my palm oil", "why could he have screamed at me like that?". Then, he said to me: "Dan, this is school. You need to learn how to be a good manager of everything you have".
That got me! Few weeks before I left school, I was already so good at using teaspoon to measure palm oil in beans. If you ask me for palm oil, I would carry myself, palm oil and tea spoon to measure it in your food for you.
