1. Post short content every day
Use TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook to post snippets of your songs. Don’t just post the music — show your lifestyle, studio moments, street vibes, funny moments, or the story behind the song. People connect with personalities before they become fans.
2. Make your hook unforgettable
The first 10 seconds of your song matters most. A catchy hook can make people replay your song and use it for videos. Artists like Omah Lay and Asake blew up partly because their melodies stick fast in people’s heads.
3. Push your music with influencers and dancers
Send your song to TikTok creators, dancers, DJs, and hype men. Even small influencers can help your song spread if the sound is catchy. One viral video can change everything.
4. Build a loyal fan base, not just views
Reply to comments, go live, repost fans using your song, and make people feel involved in your journey as Street Preacher. Loyal fans will promote your music for free because they feel connected to you.
5. Drop consistently and stay active
A lot of upcoming artists disappear after one song. Keep dropping music, previews, freestyles, and content consistently. The music industry rewards artists people keep seeing over and over again.

Bonus tip:
Don’t wait until your song is out before promoting it. Start promotion before release day so people are ready expecting the song.

A lot of upcoming artists think copying is the shortcut.

You hear a hot song…
you copy the flow… the tone… the style…
and you think: “This is what works.”

But here’s the problem:
It already worked… for them.

When you copy another artist, you’re stepping into a lane that’s already occupied.

And no matter how good you do it…
you’ll always be compared to the original.

And comparison is a game you can’t win.

Because listeners will say:
“Why listen to you… when I can just go to the original artist?”

That’s the first thing holding you back.

Second:
Copying hides your real sound.

You might actually have something unique…
a different tone… a different way of delivering…

But you’re covering it up trying to sound like someone else.

So your identity never develops.

You’re basically training yourself to not sound like you.

Third:
You don’t learn the right skills.

When you copy, you focus on surface-level things:

* flows
* vocal effects
* word patterns

But you ignore deeper things like:

* songwriting
* emotional delivery
* vocal control
* timing and pocket

So even if it sounds similar at first…
it lacks depth.

Fourth:
It limits your growth.

Because you’re always reacting…
never creating.

You wait for trends…
then follow them.

And by the time you catch up…
the sound has already moved on.

So you’re always behind.

Now here’s the truth most people won’t tell you:

Every great artist was inspired by others…
but they didn’t copy the final product.

They studied:

* the structure
* the emotion
* the intention

Then created something new from it.

That’s the difference between influence and imitation.

So how do you fix this?

First:
Stop trying to sound like a specific artist.
Instead, take pieces from different places.

Second:
Record your voice in its natural form.
Don’t force an accent, tone, or delivery that isn’t you.

Third:
Experiment more.
Try different flows, melodies, and energies…
even if they feel uncomfortable.

That’s where your real sound is hiding.

And most importantly:
Pay attention to what feels natural.

Your best sound is usually the one that feels the least forced.

Because at the end of the day:
Copying might get you close to a sound…

But it will never make you stand out.

And in music…
standing out is the only thing that matters.

Let’s cut the fantasy: you don’t need fame to make money from music—you need structure, positioning, and smart monetization.

As an artiste manager Here’s how to actually turn your music into real income even if you’re still “upcoming”:

1. Stop chasing streams—start building fans
Streams pay little. Fans pay everything.
Focus on:
• Talking to your audience (reply, engage, involve them)
• Showing your lifestyle + journey (not just dropping songs)
• Giving your supporters identity (“my people”, “team ___”)
👉 1,000 real fans > 100,000 random listeners

2. Make your first money from your current level

Don’t wait to “blow”.

Start here:

• Perform anywhere you can
• Campus shows
• Lounges/clubs
• Private events

Even small fees (₦30k–₦150k) stack fast and build your stage value.
• Charge for features
If your sound is good:
• Other upcoming artistes will pay for verses
Start small, increase price as demand grows.
• Offer songwriting
A lot of people want to be artistes but can’t write.
That’s your opportunity:
• Write hooks, verses, full songs
• Get paid upfront or take splits

3. Turn content into cash

You’re not just an artiste—you’re a content asset.

Post:
• Snippets
• Studio sessions
• Relatable lifestyle clips
• Performance energy

This brings:
• Brand deals
• Paid promotions
• Audience growth
👉 No content = no visibility = no money

4. Sell something simple (don’t overthink it)

You don’t need a big brand to start selling.

Start with:
• T-shirts
• Caps
• Digital drops (exclusive songs, early access)

People don’t just buy products—they buy belonging.

5. Use your network as income

Your connections can pay you if you position yourself right.
• Link brands to audiences
• Connect artistes to opportunities using your manager
• Be known as someone who “makes things happen” behind the scenes by placing your manager to negotiate the contract.

6. Treat every song like a business launch

Before you drop:
• What’s the plan to promote it?
• Who is pushing it?
• What content supports it?

After you drop:
• Push consistently for 2–4 weeks
• Reach DJs, creators, influencers
• Perform it live

👉 A song without a plan won’t make money.

7. Stack income streams (this is the real game)

At your level, your money can look like:
• Shows → ₦100k
• Features → ₦50k
• Writing → ₦80k
• Small deals → ₦150k

That’s already real money—without being famous.

8. Build a simple system

Every month:
1. Grow audience (content)
2. Drop or promote music
3. Monetize (shows, features, deals)

Repeat.

Consistency turns small cash into serious income.

Real Talk:

Most artistes stay broke because:
• They depend on one hit
• They ignore business
• They wait for validation

Meanwhile, smarter artistes are quietly making money with less fame but better structure.

Noted : Have an entertainment lawyer and Allow your manager to perform his duty in that way you will be protected .

It’s not a new mic.
It’s not expensive plugins.
It’s what you do before you ever hit “Mix.”

Here’s how pros level up fast 👇

🎙️ 1. RECORD MORE THAN ONE TAKE
One take = average.
Multiple takes = options.

✅ Do this:
- Record 3–5 full takes
- Pick the best parts from each (comping)

Pro Tip:
Great vocals are chosen, not lucky.

🎧 2. CONTROL YOUR PERFORMANCE
Pros don’t rely on plugins for emotion.

✅ Focus on:
- Consistent distance from the mic
- Clear pronunciation
- Controlled breathing

Pro Tip:
A stable performance mixes itself.

🎚️ 3. EDIT BEFORE YOU MIX
Mixing a messy vocal wastes time.

✅ Clean up:
- Timing issues
- Harsh breaths
- Background noise

Pro Tip:
Editing is invisible but powerful.

🎛️ 4. GAIN STAGE PROPERLY
Too hot or too low = problems later.

✅ Aim for:
- Peaks around –10 to –6dB
- No clipping anywhere

Pro Tip:
Headroom = cleaner mixes.

5. MIX WITH INTENTION
Don’t just add plugins, solve problems.

✅ Ask yourself:
- What’s wrong here?
- What needs fixing?

Pro Tip:
Professionals mix with purpose, not presets.

🎯 FINAL WORD:
Professional sound starts before the mix.
Great recording habits separate amateurs from artists.

Fix your process, your sound will level up fast. 💪 search insights
