My experience with working on SEO Content for my clients has opened my eyes to one challenge some writers might face.
This challenge has to do with coming up with topics or titles for blog posts.
Usually, clients are expected to give you the topics to write on. But there are also some clients that require you to come up topics.
As a writer, this might be confusing to you because this is a field that you're not experienced in.
But not to worry - I have come up with some ideas that can help you generate titles for blog posts with ease.
Here is one of the ideas:
USE THE “EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW” TEMPLATE
One of the benefits of blogging is that you can use the platform to provide value.
Every day, millions of people look-up information on Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. They do that because they want to get the exact and as much information as they can about the topic.
This could help you in crafting the perfect title for your next blog post.
Before I dive into that, I want to mention that using the “Everything You Need to Know” blog title formula should be reserved for articles that provide in-depth information.
What I mean is that the blog post should provide at least 90% of the information surrounding that topic. That is why the title reads “Everything” because the readers are not expected to source additional information after reading the blog post.
Template 1: Use Topic + Colon (:) + Everything You Need to Know
This template simply means that the topic or the main keyword of the article should be placed first, followed by the colon (:) and then, the "Everything You Need to Know."
Let us assume that you want to write on the topic, “Cryptocurrency Trading.”
Here are some examples of this template:
- Cryptocurrency Trading: Everything You Need to Know.
- Cryptocurrency Trading: Everything You Need to Know in 2022.
Template 2: Use Topic + Colon (:) + Everything You Need to Know in X Steps
This template is a bit similar to the first – only that it includes a list of steps.
As much as the title hints on providing the entire information on the topic, it is also important to mention how long it would take to learn it all.
This is the reason for adding the “X Steps” where “X” stands for the number of steps involved. It could be 10 steps, 5 steps or even 3 steps.
For example, the topic of the blog post is “Email Marketing.”
These are some examples of blog titles you can generate with the above template:
- Email Marketing: Everything You Need to Know in 7 Steps.
- Email Marketing: Everything You Need to know in 10 Steps.
Template 3: Everything You Need to Know About + Topic + Implication
This blog title template is quite different from the previous two.
This time, the topic doesn’t come first. Rather, what we have is the “Everything You Need to Know” followed by the topic and the “Implication”.
The "Implication" here refers to the expected outcome of the topic.
If you are writing about Digital Marketing, here are some examples to clarify that:
- Everything You Need to Know About Email Marketing & What It Means for Your Business.
- Everything You Need to Know About Email Marketing & How to do it like a Pro.
In the first example, the title was about the relevance of email marketing when it is used in your business.
The second example focused on how you can implement everything you learn about email marketing.
Do you now understand how this template can be used to write captivating blog post titles?
